Our Vision• Is to create a just society which will provide

political,social and economic opportunities for women, especially tribal and dalit women (untouchable), to help them achieve their rights, to improve their lives and livelihoods and to realise their full potential.

We Are…

• A group of women activists from the women’s movement and development professionals.

• made stronger by a dedicated team of volunteers and community leaders in the field who work towards achieving common goals.

• Supported by a small team of teachers and field staff.

• We work closely with like-minded NGO’s and other civil society organizations.

Our Working Area

• Gramya is working in the poverty stricken regions of Nalgonda district.

• In Khammam district we work in partnership with five NGOs among Lambada and dalit families

• We promote state, national and international advocacy on child rights and to prevent violence against women.

Our Initial Achievements

• Exposing the practice of infanticide and sale of girl babies in Nalgonda and ten other districts of Andhra Pradesh. Our campaign led to change in government policy and development interventions in the region.

• Organised 800 women into self-help groups and linked to government development programmes.

• Groups now save and revolve funds for income generation.

• Through loans from sanghas women now take up income generation activities.

• A women’s Resource centre for counseling and legal aid set up to support women in distress.

• Ten schools set up to bring working children back to school. Now handed over to government. More than thousand children mainstreamed.

• A bridge school set up for girls in vulnerable situations. 120 girls currently enrolled in bridge school. Three batches completed middle school.

• Children campaign through street theatre to prevent child labour.
