Even though we have less experience with sheep and shepherds today in our society, we can still identify strongly with the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd and as the gate for the sheep. Psalm 23 remains a popular and favorite psalm for prayer. In the image of the Good Shepherd, we know ourselves to be protected and cared for by a loving God. As your family gathers, ask what each person knows about sheep and shepherds. Recall that shepherds and sheep have a close relationship. Sheep will only follow their own shepherd; they recognize his voice and will not follow a stranger. The shepherd’s job is to protect his sheep. In some ways, the relationship between the shepherd and his sheep is like that of a parent and child. Read together this Sunday’s Gospel, John 10:1-10. Talk about how Jesus tells us that he is the gate for the sheep. The sheep enter the protection of the sheepfold through the gate. In Jesus we find protection and abundant life. Conclude by thanking Jesus for being our Good Shepherd and by praying today’s psalm, Psalm 23. This weekend seminarians William and Ronnie will speak to us about the Charitable Work fund. CWF PASTORAL APPEAL:

This weekend is a great opportunity for you to help out your parish in a meaningful way by supporting one of its charitable appeals. The Charitable Works Fund (CWF) is the premier charity of the Sydney Archdiocese, covering social and pastoral services, education and training, and advocacy services to all sections of your community – regardless of race, religion or social status. To continue its work, the CWF needs your financial help. Making a donation is easy: Use the appeal envelope provided or phone the Fundraising Office on 1800 753 959. For a quick and secure credit card donation, visit www.cwf.org.au. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. Your gift will help someone in your community who could use a helping hand or be given better opportunities, so please give generously. Thank you.

Image of Mary During May, the month dedicated to Mary, families have an opportunity to take home the picture of Mary, our Mother

for a week. Therefore, if you wish to take home the beautiful picture of Mary, please write your name and contact number on the clipboard in the foyer next to the Mass time you have attended.

Just remember to return the picture the following week 10 minutes before mass

begins so another family can take the picture home. For any questions, please contact Rita on 96096087. Thank you and God bless, Rita Cordina (Liturgy Coordinator)

Petition—Abortion Law Reform

A petition form is in the foyer to request that the

Legislative Council unanimously oppose both the Abortion

sign the form (email optional).

Message for 54th Day of Prayer for Vocations

the Lord will send works to his harvest. May he give us

priests enamoured of the Gospel, close to all their
