I would like to welcome Turnbull’s Family Funerals.

Turnbull’s will be joining the Derwent Junior Family and

providing the Club with assistance with the junior mem-

bers of the Club.

Finally I would like to thank Paul Ancher for taking over-

the role of the newsletter for the past number of months.

Due to personal commitments, Paul has handed the role

over to me, and for hopefully a short period of time, I

have the reigns back as newsletter editor.

I hope you all had a lovely Easter and I look forward to

seeing you at the games. GO DERWENT.

Umpiring Policy The Committee have reviewed the junior umpiring policy.

Upon close examination it has been determined (policy)

that a child less than 14 years was too young to be umpir-

ing games of hockey being played by children in the under

12 or older grades. It was decided that to stimulate confi-

dence, knowledge and skills it would be prudent that chil-

dren who wished to umpire and who were less than 14

years of age make contact with the club’s junior coordina-

tors, Tania Barry & Kathy Westland. These young um-

pires will be utilized in the under 8 & 10 competitions.

A word from our President We are well and truly up and running with the final

senior teams starting on the 12th April 2015 and the

junior teams commencing on Friday 24th April 2015. It

has been wonderful to see old and new faces around the

Club and all teams with strong numbers (previously

one of the biggest hurdles).

Socially a big thank you to Nat Fahey & Nick Tre-

mayne for organizing the opening season night at the

Club Pub the POW Hotel. It was a great night enjoyed

by all. I look forward to this becoming an annual event

where we celebrate the start of the season. POW cards

are being distributed . Make sure you see your team

manager to get your card which offers fabulous dis-

counts at our Club Pub Sponsor, the POW Hotel.

Emma Harris & the 80th sub-committee have been

busy in the background preparing for the 80th celebra-

tions. Matt Geeves is taking orders for anniversary

wine and if you didn’t already know put the 18th July

2015 in your diary for what will only be described as a

memorable celebratory event. The invitations are being

distributed and can be seen in the newsletter; so make

sure you start booking your tables.

the 30th May 2015. E.g. Premier League

men subs are $800, if paid prior to 30 May

this becomes $750 ($800 - $50 = $750).

Subs are due by the 30th June 2015. Pay-

ment methods are outlined on the bottom of

page 3

If subs are not paid by the finals, players will

be ineligible.

Two Grades—If a player plays in two grades, e.g. field/goalie or junior/senior then the

higher subs are to be raised and an additional

fee of $150 added for the other grade played,

$100 for juniors

Family discount—There is a discount of $15

per player if at least three players from the

one family play in the 2015 season provided

that the junior players are financially de-

pendent on the parent.

Per game Fee A charge of $20 per game

for seniors until half the rostered games have

been played, then full subs will be raised.

If you have any questions about the above infor-

mation please do not hesitate to contact either

John Harris or myself. Our details are on the last

page—Jane Ansell, Club President

Senior Subs Senior subs for 2015 have been set. Some have gone

up whilst others have gone down. That is due to vari-

ous reasons including an increase in coaching costs,

the number of players in a team or the number of

games that a grade is playing. It should be noted that

in 2015 there was an increase in fees from Hockey

Tasmania. So the subs for 2015 are as per the table on

page 4.

Other considerations when determining subs include

training times and administration costs. If any

player/supporter or parent would like to see a break

down of how the subs are determined, I welcome

them to contact either myself or John Harris and we

will provide the information to them. In addition the

following information is relevant to the subs:

Any non-playing member of the Club, can be-

come a financial member for $50. That pay-

ment entitles the person to be a voting member

of the Club

Goalies—Full subs unless current season re-

ceipt provided for gear purchased totalling at

least $400. Subs then to be reduce to $200 for

seniors and $100 for juniors for that season

only.

Early Bird Payment—Seniors $50 . The figures

on page 4 will have $50 subtracted if paid by

Region of Origin I wish to inform you that the Region of Origin Series planned for May this year will regrettably not be

going ahead. The cancellation of the series this year is due to the need to accommodate fixtures for the

International hockey series and the two National championships we are now hosting at the Tasmanian

Hockey Centre.

We appreciate that the Region of Origin has raised a lot of interest in the Tasmanian hockey community

and many of you were looking forward to it going ahead again this year. I am however extremely confi-

dent the series will resume again in 2016.

Kind regards,

Andrew Winch
