THESCHOOLSPORTAUSTRALIACHAMPIONSHIPS

TassieUnder16GirlsTeamClaimSilverDerwent were well represented in the Tasmanian teams atthe recent School Sport Australia Championships held inPerth:

U16Girls: Louise Maddock, Miranda Grant, Molly Lewis &Maddison Poke (Captain).

U12Girls: Lilly Ansell, Beth Dobbie, Lauren Canning, TessaKing, Maisy Sansom & Sarah Wilson-Haffenden.

U12Boys: Magnus McCausland.

The highlight of the tournament was the silver medal effortby the U16 Girls. Following wins in the round-robin matchesagainst South Australia, Victoria, NSW and the ACT, includ-ing goals from our very own Molly Lewis and MaddisonPoke, Tasmania earned the right to play off in the gold med-al match against unbeaten Queensland. The girls foughthard, but went down 4-0 in the final.

The U12 Girls had a solid tournament to finish 5th with winsover South Australia (3-1) and draws against the ACT (1-1)and eventual tournament winner Queensland (1-1). Tasma-nia were the only team to score against Queensland duringthe tournament.

The U12 Boys found the going hard and were unable to wina game, however great improvement was made by all play-ers during the tournament.
