“Supporting Colombian Refugees to Nelson”

From 2017, over 200 Colombian refugees are being resettled in Nelson from exile in Ecuador.

They arrive with complex histories of trauma, loss and grief.

Rather than individual therapy, we looked for ways to support the former refugees and build trust, skills and resilience within their own community.

Stress and anxiety management skills will

assist family adjustment to their new life

in New Zealand.
