Stress!
What is stress?
• Stress is a normal physical response to events that make you feel threatened or upset your balance in some way.
Stress Response
• the body's defenses kick into high gear in a rapid, automatic process known as the “fight-or-flight” reaction
What role does sociology play?
• Can help understand…–Why people get stressed out– The common tendencies of stressful situations– The ways to avoid stress– Response of individuals/groups to stress– Social factors that contribute to stress
Possible Theories?
① To learn how teenagers recognize when their stress levels are out of control
② To learn what triggers teenagers to feel ‘stressed out’
③ To learn which stress response (flight or fight) is more common among teenagers
④ To learn what social factors contribute to stress
