YOUR IMPACT REPORTStrengthening Hampton Roads families since 1883 2015
Thanks to you, we have touched 10,000 lives in Hampton Roads this year. The following pages reflect how you have forever shifted the life trajectories of so many. The bedrock of these stories is your unselfish, unwavering support.
This year, you have helped us to form new families and draw hurting families closer together. Your gift has helped us to prepare young children for school and ready fathers for parenthood. Your support has enabled us to bring young adults with disabilities into the community, so they can feel the freedom of independence and the warmth of new friends.
Most importantly, your gift has enabled us to begin the work to unravel generations of pain and trauma that accompany poverty and insecurity, in its many forms. When a child has no idea when her next meal will arrive or when her father will come home, a wound happens. When a person with disabilities is shunned or a parent is denied a job, a wound happens. We mend these wounds through the compassionate mental health expertise that bolsters our programs. We have doubled down on our efforts to train our partners, both government and nonprofit, on how to help their clients better recover from trauma and stress. We have now trained hundreds of service providers in public safety, health, education and human services on our approach. Your investment in healing our community is multiplied through this network of service providers. The result: an uplifted and stronger Hampton Roads.
Thank you for helping to restore thousands of lives in our community. Together, we can continue to deliver the gift of hope and transformation for our neighbors.
