1.WICS Repeater

1.1 introduction

This instrument is an ICS (Interference Cancellation System) for the repeater of W-CDMA system, which receives forward

signal and backward signal thought the donor and service antenna. It amplifies the received signals and sends them to base

station and mobile to get more strong signal. During this process, it cancels the interference signal between the donor and

receiving antenna.

Optic repeater needs master and slave repeater and high price.

Optic repeater needs high installation fee to put optical fiber to get transmit path.

Frequency change repeater has low frequency usage efficiency

Frequency change repeater also needs master and slave repeater and high price.

2.2 Disadvantages of Optic and frequency change repeater

RF repeater can not transmit high power output at outdoor.

RF repeater has a lots of limitation to find the installation place.

RF repeater can not use for outdoor service due to oscillation of feedback signal.

ICS repeater can solve the isolation problem of RF repeater and installation cost are chipper than Optic

repeater with same service coverage.

ICS repeater can use full frequency range compared to frequency change repeater.

8.1 introduction

UHR (Urban Hybrid Repeater) is installed for the purpose of improving wireless environment of high density of

building areas.

It consist of UMHU and UROU, which has max. output power of 37dBm/4FA(5W)

UMHU is enable to air interfaced with Node-B or other repeater and linked with max. four UROU through a fiber

optic cable

13.1 MHU main functions

It is outdoor main instrument which sends and receives signals with base stations or other repeaters and

monitoring of subordinate instruments between UROU and URRU is available

For the down-link path antenna input port sometimes has higher other service provider signal and noise, it causes

spurious signal. It uses SAW filter to distinguish FA and handle them separately which guarantees input dynamic

range 3) For the input of UROU and URRU, it provides the same function of above FA selection function

Max. optic cable connection is 1 Km

Signal transmission between MHU and subordinate instruments is done by IF signal, we use accurate 10MHz

14.1 introduction of RF Line Repeater

RF line repeater will be installed in-building area to cover shadowing area. For example, underground parking lot.

This system can be installed with pre-existed CCTV cable system to save extra cable installation cost

This repeater can be worked with 75Ω coaxial cable with any signal degradation

It uses diplexer to divide W-CDMA signal with CCTV signal and combine each signal without any extra cable

installation

Front panel LED Display shows all system function status for users

It provides ReMS for remote system monitoring and control

IF line repeater can be used indoor and outdoor. It has longer cable connection than RF line repeater due to IF

signal

Its DONOR and REMOTE units can be connected with 5C Cable, 7C Cable, and 2/5 inch Cable

DONOR unit can handle with max. 12 REMOTE units and also, monitor system status and control remotely

using ReMS

Cable loss between REMOTE and DONOR unit is calculated and adjust the gain to compromise cable loss

automatically

23.1 System introduction

• DAS-10W is a mobile WiMAX optical repeater using digital signal processing technology for SPRINT NEXTEL.

As optical repeater does, it is connected with base station(RAS) and cover the shadow area to increase the

coverage. The operating frequency is 2495 ~ 2590MHz allocated for SPRINT NEXTEL. It will used in indoor or

underground floor service. A signal transmission using digital signal processing instead of analog processing

has an advantage of longer transmission distance and is easy to distribute the signal to multi-sector, which is

effective to design and manage the system. Since duplexing method is a TDD, a repeater should be able to

synchronize the frame.

• The system construction is very flexible to add the new path up to 3 sectors and 2 branches per each sector.

Therefore, there can be max. 6 branches available. The each sector uses only one LD and optic signal splitter

to have two branches. All RUs are connected in cascade manner. Each sector uses one PD to make reverse

link path with a base station(RAS).

• A notebook can be connected with MHU and RU to see the system status like a optic path delay, output power

level, operating frequency band, attenuation status, each alarm status, etc.
