The Affs use of an oppressive apparatus only perpetuates oppression. TheAffs use of the state is uniquely bad because astrosociology ultimatelystrives for this democratic inclusion and preservation of cultures/societies.

But Zizek particularly indicts that use of the State fordemocratization

and reformits an illusion, and in truth it is hierarchal. This guts theirsolvencies.

b. Zizek 99ID Politicsi. The Affs call for non-scientists creating new discourse is just a mask for

Caps hierarchy. By integrating these new agents Capitalism only masksits structured social hierarchy which gives rise to Caps oppression.

2. Biopower Ka.

Dickens & Ormsrod 07Satellites Panopticoni. The First card of the 1AC calls for the use of new Telescopes. Telescopes

are obviously used for surveillance. In conjunction with our Gray 99 Card

(from the 1NC), which states NASA engages in this militaristic logic, the

Aff will inherently become a Panoptical apparatus used by the state tomonitor populations around the world.

1. Foucault in his book Discipline and Punish that surveillance ofthe civilian body is one of the methods the State ensuresconformity to its laws. Panopticism is the ultimate expression of

surveillance, is characterized by this constant, ceaseless, and

anonymous surveillance of the individual. It is this animosity

where panopticism becomes most effective: the individual knows itis being watched, without knowing when and by whom. It is here

that the power relations are established, due the paranoia of the

individual being watched, the individual will behave according tothe set rules of the Panopticon. The civilian body itself is now

made a tool of subjection in that it disciplines itself to conform,

without intervention from the State.

b. Coviello 99Doomsday Rhetorici. The use of apocalyptic imagery is a tool of the State to justify and

rationalize whatever actions it wants. The masses are given this

information and are made to feel that the plan action to be necessary, dueto the assumed correlation of it to survival. In turn, they allow the state to

do what it pleases without question.

Alternative

1. Cap Ka. The affs discourse seeks tointegrate more civilians non-scientists into the

discussion of dealing with disaster, which in turn will preserve societies, cultures,

and ultimately humanity. Scream Forces solves back for this because the Screamitself makes us as individuals agents of changeby participating in the scream we

forcibly integrate ourselves into this discussion of preservation of life. And the

reason we scream is against the oppressions and horrors that cause disaster in

the Status Quo.

2. Biopower K[We need help understanding Foucault 80.]a. The aff particularly indites planning for disaster in such a way that brings harm to

cultures and society. Resistance to Power solves back for this. Even thoughBiopower exists presiding over us, we still have the capacity for actionbiopower just disillusions us to act according to their laws.

Dickens & Ormsrod 7Satellitesi. This card is specific to how Satellites function to continue Cap throughout

the world. Satellites allow for many different mediums of profit, and aid

greatly the flow of capital (through i.e. data transactions).

b. Dickens & Ormsrod 7SPSi. This card indites the cost of SPS, and points out that it will quickly

become monopolized as a means of maximizing profits. Not only does it

link to the K but it also turns case.

c. Sakellaropoulos 08Hegemonyi. This card indites hegemony not this global police many view it to be,

but as a means to preserve US economic interests. Thus this rhetoric

calling for the maintenance of hegemony is really a call for the expansionof capitalism to weaker countries.

i. Satellites have the capability to monitor global populations. In conjunctionwith our Gray 99 Card (from the 1NC), which states NASA engages in

this militaristic logic, the Aff will inherently become a Panoptical

apparatus used by the state to monitor populations around the world.

b. Lifton 03Hegemonyi. This concept of hegemony propagates this idea of dominance, where the

hegemon is entitled to control the weaker nation. Thus their

securitization claims really just create more fear, which perpetuates moreand more violenceturns case.

Alternative

1. Cap Ka. Scream Force solves back for the aff because it is a means of deconstructing

hegemony, thus deterring all of our impacts associated with hegemony. The aff isjust a fiated illusion, while the alternative actually addresses real world issues.

2. Biopower Ka. Resistance also solves back for the aff because it seeks to deconstruct hegemony,

and all of the biopower that stems from it. By Resisting/rejection we can stophegemonys control over populations, which in turn destroys its power over them.

The interrogation of power also works to demystify, deconstructing the fear that

causes securitization.

that it forces the civilian body to engage in a logic which holds economicvalues above all else. With the masses involved in such thinking the affs

plan action becomes justified and rationalized because of its market value,

and will thus not interrogate or resist the aff.

Alternative

1. Cap Ka. Scream Force solves back for the Aff because it is a perpetuation of capitalism.

The Solar Power gained through SPS will only become another resource pool sold

for profit. This pursuit of profit justifies things such as Resource Wars, and the

other oppression of the Capitalist system. Rejection of the Aff is another way of

deconstructing Cap.2. Biopower K

1. Cap Ka. Scream Force solves the aff because the aff continually perpetuates violence and

destruction. Screaming against such policies breaks this cycle of violence, and

seeks to set peaceful alternatives in place.

2. Biopower Ka. Resistance solves back for the aff because rejection of the 1AC allows us to reject

this violence propagating discourse, and opens up new avenues for more peaceful

approaches to space policy.
