B IBLE STUDY
9 .0 0 A.M. - 9 .4 5 A.M.
Sub-Theme/7: By Power Manifestation.Topic: Power Manifestation To Relieve Others.Texts: Mark 6:7, 12-13; Luke 10:1-3, 17-24.Aims: i. To appreciate God’s delight when we manifest
His power to bring succour to others;ii. To be motivated to seek positive action in this
regard;iii. To realise the qualities needed to manifest
God’s power, and note the necessary caution.
Introduction: The Old and New Testament scriptures are full of instances when God showed His power to deliver people-God worked through men to minister to men. In fact, our texts above show us that Christ is indeed happy when His children demonstrate His power to deliver others. This explains why He equips those He sends on assignment with power. We dare not focus on ourselves alone. We will surely fall short of His expectations when we fail to use His power to help others.
Study Guide1. From the texts, what charge did Jesus give to those He
sent on missions, and how were they equipped?2. Would you want Jesus to respond to your outreaches also
as He did in the Luke text (verses 17-24)? What should you do? Mark 6:12-13; Luke 10:3.
3. Identify and discuss how we can be used by God to others, Mk.9:14-24; 28-29; Acts 3:11-16; 19:13-16.
4. Read Matt.10:8; I Tim.3:3, 8-9; Titus 1:7 and point out qualities and caution we should exercise so as to manifest His power in giving succour to others.
Conclusion: God expects us to trust Him to intervene in situations where we call on Him to help those in need. However, we must be genuine children of God given to prayer, and pleasing Him in our life. When He answers contrary to our expectations we should not be discouraged. He is the Lord!
Food For Thought: It is normal for God’s people to demonstrate His power to help others; the contrary is abnormal.
Memory Verse: Mark 6:7.

Gleaners’ Harvest.
Next Sunday 11 November is our Gleaners’ Harvest, the last in the Harvest Season. What is the Gleaners’ Harvest? Gleaning is the custom of following a harvest knowing that what remains might be used primarily for the poor who have little or no means of supporting themselves.
These disenfranchised people often widows and the elderly who have lost their husbands or relatives due to death or abandonment and have no other way to survive. There was a law of God that commanded this such as in Leviticus 19:9 which says: “When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, neither shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest.” The reason for this is further expounded in Leviticus 23:22. “And When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, neither shall you
gather the gleanings after your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner. I am the Lord your God.”
Hence we appeal to you all that are His word, you glean you field next Sunday. And we appeal to the Vicar and the PCC that wherever we collect next Sunday, through part of the Harvest offering, shall be transferred to the Welfare Committee as demanded by Scriptures.
Representatives of each society will bring the gleaners’ offering to the altar next Sunday. Thank You and God bless.

PRAYING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL 1 JOHN 5:14
John 16:24 until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
1 John 5:14 now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us
The gospel according to St. John 16: 24 “until now” “you have asked nothing” “in my name”, these quotations speaks volume... “Until now” this suggests to me that prayers offer before now is not in accordance to the pattern or channel that prayer should to be said. 1 John 5: 14 “Now this is the confidence that we have” means that some wrongs has been made right. It also reflects the free mind and wiliness to pray knowing that the days of just words expression is over.
John 16:24 “you have asked nothing”, this puzzled me, and I can’t help myself but to ask this question all the prayers said before now, were there no request or need that was presented during supplication as at then? The
question took another turn and became clearer to me as John 16:24 resolved the puzzle “in My name” that is all prayers said before now were said not in the name of Jesus Christ. One may be tempted to say but some prayers were answered before “now”; yes but prayer now is made free for all without going through a medium like prophet or facing the direction of Jerusalem and the like.
Prayers were answered but the joy was not full as read in John 16:24, Jesus Christ said to the disciples do not rejoice because the demon bowed for you but rejoice because your names are written in the book of life Luke 10:20. God’s will for us is that we should come to repentance and not perish (2 Peter 3:9) in other words, His desire for us to be saved from our sin.
Beloved our prayer is not to serve our own purposes or needs only. It’s true that our
There is a very good chance that this man with his disability would continue to appear at the pool until his dying day. It is also very likely that, if Jesus Christ hadn’t intervened, nothing would have changed for this man.
Brethren, we need to remember ourselves that this lame man wasn’t searching for Jesus because his focus was on the pool, rather than on Jesus Christ, the Messiah. In fact Jesus was the furthest thing from his mind. But the Lord was searching for him.
Let us avoid being like a crowd of down and out people, who gathered by the pool struggling to get into the water at just the right moment to receive a healing. But to seek Jesus Christ through Prayers to change our situation and whatever may have stopped us a long time ago. We need to put aside the medical details of our case and allow the supernatural touch of God through prayers to revive our situation and its testimony to Christ’s life giving power.
