Story Board

Natasha Williams

Before I started the Media Communications program at Full Sail, I had no clue where I was going. Growing up in Ann Arbor, MI, I told myself to go into

Marketing, so I began college for Business Sales and Marketing. I realized that that was NOT where I wanted to be, left my family and everything I knew

behind to try some new scenery that would hopefully help me find my way.

Before Full Sail

Winter Park, FL

Luckily for me, my friend wanted to go to Full Sail, so I decided to move with her.

This was back in 2007, before this program was available. I was still trying to figure out where I would make my career, but signing up for school with out of state

tuition and no idea where I was even going to start posed a problem. I began

taking improv classes at SAK U downtown Orlando, as well as acting classes in

Winter Park.

Doing that opened up my eyes to how many different careers lie inside, in front and backstage of media. Pursuing acting was not something I was interested in, I mainly did it as a hobby. But, from that

point on, I know I was onto something…

Still unsure of where life was taking me, and knowing that it had been long enough that I wasn’t in school, I changed my thinking of what I would like to be, into what kind of lifestyle I would like to live. I knew one thing, it HAD to be freelance. I began searching for freelance careers and decided that being an Entrepreneur was my best bet. What was I going to do with that? I had no clue. But I began taking classes online at University of Phoenix, anyway.

You Live and You Learn

So… that was not the right move. Not to take anything away from University of Phoenix; the program was not for me, especially because I did not have a plan. I spent the next two years just thinking… thinking very hard on what I wanted to do. I knew about Full Sail, and I knew they held classes that pertained to my interests, but I was scared to start again and not “get it.” After looking into the curriculum over and over and over…and over, I decided to give it a shot. I knew that my interests were in the Media field, and I also knew how broad the field of Communications was, which would give my ever-so-changing-mind room to run without leaving the yard. A new, and final decision had been made.

Nothing ever stays the same! Around the time I reached the decision to go to Full Sail, I got engaged! As exciting as that was, I was not ready to leave Florida! I finally figured out where I was headed in life, and now, I would have to move all the way to Los Angeles where my future husband was. (Fun fact, he actually went to Full Sail the year (2007) I moved, and that’s where we met). Either way, I was excited and knew I could go to school online, though I much prefer the on-campus route.

So here we are in 2015, in Los Angeles, where I attend Full Sails online MCBS program. I still have a great amount of confidence in this program and the careers that it can help me build. I am looking forward to trying my hand out at Copywriting, Social Media campaigns, Project Management and Event Planning. I truly believe that I can build a career from this degree and work freelance as I have always wanted. I still don’t have a SET “job” of where I see myself, but have no worries that I’m doing the right thing.
