General Rules about Layout for presentation

1.Dont put anything important within 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the edge. It can be cut off when projected.

2.Projected presentations look best with a black or dark background and reversed light text.

3.Pastels and light gradients wash out when projected.

4.Colors that do not look good on screen are greens, reds, really bright colors, and neon colors. Readability is

critical, so make sure your background and text color contrast well. White and yellow text work well on a dark

    background.

5.Choose your colors based on the equipment quality. Low light equipment works best with darker text and a

lighter background. When using an LCD panel, very dark templates with light text work best.

What have you learned ? You can try to answer some questions here to test you

    understanding about the topic.

    Idea for a short course

    Proposal for a short course.

Title : Visual Graphic Layout Presentation

Target Audience: age 15 19 years old with basic knowledge of computer technology.

    Learning Outcomes:

    1. Learners should be able to state six important rules for a good layout visual graphic

    presentation.

    2. Learners should be able to differentiate between good and bad presentation.

    3. Learners should be able to apply their understanding about rules for a good layout

    visual presentation.

New content for a short course

I am collaborating with my friend Shima Mohamed to design a short course. We have decided

to teach young learners ( 15-19 years old ) about layout for visual graphic presesntation. We

will provide some useful tips and guideline for a good presentation. We will make the course

attractive to young learners by using Casper character as the main focus. Learners can easily

remember the guidelines by remembering the word CASPER. This learning strategy is knownas mnemonics. It is defined simply as some device which aids the memorisation of

something. Mnemonic instruction refers to instructional or learning strategies designed

specifically to improve memory. In many cases, it refers to modifying or changing to-be-

learned information ( guideline for good visual graphic presentation ) to link it directly to

information the learner already knows ( the character Casper ).

Why do we choose this topic ?

At the school level. students are exposed to computer technology. However, being young and

lack of exposure to the field, they tend to encounter difficulties to make a good

presentation. In some cases, they are eager to apply all the knowledge and skills for

presentation until they do not convey the important points.

    What is our strategy ?

We will use easy-to-follow power point presentation. At the same time, we are incorporating

soothing music in the presentation as we know that our target audience enjoys music very

much. In addition to that; graphics, colors and different types of fonts will be using to
