The SQID® devices are a range of pit inserts which guard against pollutants and other debris being washed into our oceans via our ecologically fragile rivers and streams.

With controlled bypass water flow, it reduces re-mobilisation of already captured pollutants during a storm event.

The SQID® is a pit insert for the primary treat-ment of stormwater at the source. Used in car parks, driveways, road kerb inlets, field gully pits, bridges and anywhere storm water is collected, particularly around shopping centres, carparks schools, etc. The design ensures that all gross pol-lutants are prevented from entering the stormwa-ter reducing adverse environmental impacts.

Manufactured from UV stabilised polyethylene and a stainless steel screen mesh the SQID® will make sure that all stormwater pollutants are captured at the source.

Organic matter such as leaves can act to deplete critical levels of dissolved oxygen with subsequent adverse impacts on aquatic life. Within the SQID®, oxygen is not depleted due to the removal of the captured material being suspended/held above any water or residual left in the pit.

The SQID® effectiveness under different hydraulic loads and levels of blockage by pollutants have been evaluated and verified by Queensland University of Technology (QUT) testing. High flow models for tropical areas are available.

The SQID® is a stormwater management system which acts as

the first line of defence against litter and sediment reaching our fragile

waterways.

InstallationThe SQID® devices come in a range of sizes and

are easily fitted to a wide range of pits as either new installations or retro-fits. The inserts are manufactured to the nominal sizes indicated.

In a polymer pit the SQID® can simply be fitted underneath the grate which will hold the SQID® in place.

For installation in concrete or similar pits a SQID®

fitting kit is supplied which fixes to the inner wall in the required position and supports the weight of the SQID®.

Maintenance & ServicingAs with all equipment, there is a requirement for

regular maintenance to be undertaken and these devices are no different.

The SQID® can be easily removed and the waste disposed of to a controlled land-fill system.

Cleaning should be undertaken on a three monthly basis, after heavy rain or as usage dictates.

Because the material collected is drained and dry, disposal is via normal waste collection methods. In larger installations, this can be supported with suction cleaning using eductor vacuum or other suction options.

As the larger devices have the potential to carry more than manual handling allows, these should be lifted with appropriate equipment or collected material removed by above methods. All lifting points provided should be used when lifting and care needs to be taken with lifting manually.
