Each of You, Lay Something Aside

1 Corinthians 16:1-2 ESV (1) Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. (2) On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come.

Each of You, Lay Something Aside

2 Corinthians 8:3-5 NKJV (3) For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, (4) imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. (5) And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.

We Must First Give Ourselves

Each of You, Lay Something Aside

Galatians 5:24 NKJV And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

We Must First Give Ourselves

Mark 10:21-22 NKJV Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me." (22) But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

Each of You, Lay Something AsideWe Must First Give Ourselves

Mark 10:28-31 NKJV Then Peter began to say to Him, "See, we have left all and followed You." (29) So Jesus answered and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel's, (30) who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life. (31) But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Storing Up As He May Prosper10 Principles Concerning Our Giving

1. According to What We Have

2 Cor. 8:12 NKJV For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.

Acts 11:29 NKJV Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.

2. Should be Equality in our Giving.2 Corinthians 8:13-14 NKJV (13) For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened; (14) but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack—that there may be equality.

4. Should show the Proof of our Love

2 Corinthians 8:24 NKJV (24) Therefore show to them, and before the churches the proof of your love and of our boasting on your behalf.

2 Cor. 8:7-9 NKJV But as you abound in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us—see that you abound in this grace also. (8) I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others. (9) For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

2 Corinthians 9:5 NKJV Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation.
