A NOTE FROM OUR PTA PRESIDENT

JANUARY 26TH

Spring is in the air, Stonewall families! Our PTA and school community have so many wonderful events planned for the coming month. March is National Reading Month and Stonewall will cel-ebrate with our annual Book Fair (March 5th -9th). On March 13th, we will have our monthly Spirit Night at Chipotle (mall location) from 4-8 pm. We end the month with our Show Us Your Talent Show (March 30th 6-8 pm). Please see the newsletter for more information about how you can register for this event (you must submit your talent show form to Mr. Gatliff by THURSDAY, MARCH 22rd for consideration).

Looking forward, we wanted to extend an invitation to all our Stonewall parents/guardians, to consider becoming a PTA officer for the 2018-19 school year. We NEED lots of new faces, new ideas and new energy to keep our organization representative of our school and moving in inno-vative directions. If you’d like to see what we’re all about, please join us for our next monthly on Monday, March 19th @6:30 in the library. Children are always welcome, snacks will be provided and we limit the meetings to one hour. This is a great way to see the many things PTA does for our school! Please see the last page of the newsletter for a list of available 2018-19 positions.

Five reasons to become involved in PTA:

It’s good for your student! Research shows that children whose parents are involved in their school make better grades and have fewer disciplinary problems at school.

It’s important to the school. We create a caring and supportive atmosphere.

You’ll get connected. There’s no better way to know what’s going on at school than to be a member of PTA.

You’ll be part of a great network. PTA is a great resource for families on a variety of topics.

You’ll make a difference!

As always, please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Getting to the Top of Box Tops

Congrats again to Stonewall students for reaching the #1 spot in Fayette County Box Tops collecting!!!

Collecting is done by students and parents….but who is the mastermind behind the collecting?? Meet Bruce Moore, also known as Stonewall’s “Box Top Guru”! Par-ents and students alike can find Bruce around the school doing a little bit of every-

thing...actually A TON of everything!!

Bruce has been an active sub/volunteer since the 2007 school year. He can been seen from dusk to dawn at the school. Whether you have met him or not you’ve defi-

nitely seen him! And on top of all he contributes to administration and classrooms, he is Stonewall’s Box Tops Coordinator! Bruce researched Box Tops and determined that with some good organization and dedication

Box Tops donations could bring in some big funds to the school.….year to date is $34,276!!! WOW!!!

Box Tops collecting began back in 2008! In 2015 Bruce took over Box Tops and began motivating students and parents to donate—$14, 207 has been earned under his leadership! He also provides leadership to 5th grade students that manage the donation table every morning! We thank Bruce for his dedication to this

wonderful project! It not only raises funds for the school but teaches Stonewall students about pride, responsibility and leadership!

February Box Tops Winners

• February’s Theme was “Just Like Ninjas, We Find Box Tops!”. The 2nd graders dominated this contest!

• Ms. Warren’s 2nd grade class won the Grimaldi’s Pizza Party for February!

• The February staff Box Tops contest for a $25 Grimaldi’s Pizzeria went to Mr. Gatliff! The gift card for the March staff contest will be from Massage Envy!

• Maura Witt in Ms. Moore’s 5th grade class won the big, stuffed red dog for guessing the exact number of Box Tops in a container!
