How to install the system?

The StockManiacs Trading System For Amibroker installer file is available for all at our site StockManiacs.net at http://www.stockmaniacs.net/smtradingsystem.html. Life-time purchasers should join the Yahoo group at http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StockManiacs_Trading_Systems. Please login with your Yahoo id & password to receive future updates. Others all trial seekers login to our site as per the link in StockManiacs.net. Then download the file StockManiacs_Trading_System_V5.0_Setup.exe to desktop by right clicking and selecting “Save Target As”. If you received the installer file in mail save it in desktop as well.

Once the installer file is downloaded double click on the installer.

Now follow the on-screen instructions to install from the file. It will automatically locate your Amibroker’s installation folder and will automatically place necessary DLL files and AFL or Amibroker Formula Files into appropriate directories. If your Amibroker is installed in any other location than C:\Program Files\Amibroker and the installer cannot automatically find it, then kindly type the appropriate location manually.

Please follow the default on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the trading system files to your PC.

How to activate the system?

Once the system is installed it will automatically run the Hardware ID as follows. If not manually locate in your Amibroker’s installation folder (look for HWID.exe) and run it. Hardware ID is also available at your start menu at StockManiacs Trading System program group. It will show your hardware id like the following screenshot.

Copy the hardware id and mail it to us at helpdesk@stockmaniacs.net or you may also send in your hardware ids using the LEAVE A MESSAGE buttons in our site.

Now run Amibroker. This will confirm you about the DLL has got installed like following. Click on OK.

Now you will see the AFL or Amibroker formula file StockManiacs Trading System V5.0 is inatalled in the Amibroker\Formulas\Custom folder. Click on the + sign beside the Custom folder to locate it from the charts tree.

Double click on the file StockManiacs Trading System V5.0 and load into a blank chart page like the following image.

You will not be able to see the signals until we activate the system from our servers. Once we receive your request mail and your hardware id with your full contact details, we will mail back once the system is registered for your system.

Now restart Amibroker and you will be able to see the system working and showing signals like the following image.

How to use the system after installation?

You can change the default parameters by right clicking on the chart and choosing Parameters.

In the parameters you can change optimizable parameters like A and B and also add various studies like trending bands, voice alerts, crossovers, support and resistances, close positions end of day etc.

How to trade: StockManiacs Trading System For Amibroker – V5.0 can be used on any time frames starting from 1 minute to daily.

Trade entry criteria: First look for a buy or sell signal and enter the trade. The system will automatically generate the stop loss and also will try to indicate possible reversal or profit booking levels by printing triangles

on the charts. Orange inverted triangles are partial / full profit booking signals of the buy positions and lime triangles are partial / full profit booking signals for sell positions.

Bar Colour: Here we can see 3 bar colours in the system. Blue is a bull bar, red is a bear bar and grey is a neutral bar. Frequent grey bars indicate the market is in range and it is best to wait till the congestion period breaks when you get frequent grey bars.

Use of trend filters: One picture is worth 1000 words so watch the image below very carefully to understand proper usage of trend filters.

The above example is given in the default A and B settings. Some customers also use the system without trend filters on the basis of buy / sell signals alone or try to minimize whipsaws in signals. For them in 5 minutes time frame in Nifty Future best possible parameters are A = 5, B = 20 or aggressive A = 4, B = 3 and in hourly time frame in Nifty Future best possible parameters are A = 4 and B = 18. One may change the default parameters for other stocks as per the time frame or as per optimization or as per the underlying. The above best possible parameters are derived from walk forward optimization of past 3 years data and may be modified time to time as underlying behavior also changes with time.

The Other Supporting Indicators: There are some other supporting indicators that can be added and removed from the parameters are the Support & Resistance, Crossover, Human Voice Alert, Fibonacci Levels, Trending Bands etc. Support & Resistance and Fibonacci Levels can be used very nicely for target fixation.

Nifty Future Results (2008-2009)

The report shows the system has achieved a net profit of more than 3 times in the time period 2008-2009. The above back test report was generated after proper walk-forward optimization and keeping A = 5, B = 20 in 5 minutes time frame (recommended). Our data provider was Invest Bulls.
