SECOND COLLECTION IS FOR "R & R" TO HELP

WITH RENOVATIONS TO OUR PARISH CENTER Today's Second Collection is for the ongoing "Repair and Renovation" of our Church Buildings. The "R & R"

Collections will be helping us, in addition to the funds from the

Generations of Faith Campaign, to pay for the Renovation of

the Pope Francis Center. We ask all parishioners to be as

generous as possible. We THANK everyone for their sacrifices

and generous support!!

THANKS TO OUR CATECHISTS!!! Today we complete another year of our Parish Religious

Education (Catechism) Program. The number of young people

learning our Faith and preparing for the Sacraments has been

growing for the last few years. We take this opportunity to say

"Thank You" to all of our Catechists!! These volunteers are

parishioners who give generously of their time and talent to

collaborate with the parents of our children in teaching them

our Faith by word and example, preparing some for Baptism

and so many for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. We

especially thank Mrs. Ines Cordero, our Director of the

Religious Education for her hard work, dedication, and

leadership!! In the coming weeks we will be beginning

registration for next year's Religious Education Program and

we will also be inviting parishioners to consider volunteering

as a Catechist or Assistant. We hope and pray that our program

can continue to grow and we pray that God will continue to

Bless us with such wonderful and dedicated Catechists!!

NIGHT OF WORSHIP AND ADORATION The San Judas group from our San Miguel parish invites you to

a night of praise and worship of Our Lord on Thursday, May

24, beginning with the rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the church. We

will have a preaching and Holy Hour. Everyone is invited. This

event is in Spanish

MEMORIAL DAY-MONDAY, MAY 28th The Rectory Office will be closed on Monday, May 28th, 2018

in honor of Memorial Day. There will be only one (Bilingual)

Mass. There will be no evening Mass but the prayer group will

meet at 7:00pm in the church.

CHANGE OF MASS TIME - TUESDAY, MAY 29TH

The Evening (Spanish) Mass on Tuesday, May 29th will be at

6:30pm, instead of 7:30pm. After the Mass (at 7:15pm) there

will be a family Rosary and Holy Hour for Families and

Vocations.

FOOD DRIVE FOR SOUP KITCHEN We will be conducting a "Food Drive", asking parishioners to

donate non-perishable and canned food for our Parish Soup

Kitchen. The items most needed are beans, canned vegetables,

pasta and tuna (NO RICE). Food Donations can be brought to

Church they can be brought to the Rectory Monday through

Saturday during office hours. If you have any questions you

can call the Rectory (718-768-6065).

THE FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI - SUNDAY, JUNE 3RD

On Sunday, June 3rd, the Feast of Corpus Christi (the Body

and Blood of Christ), we will have a Procession with the

Blessed Sacrament beginning after the 12:00noon Mass.

Eucharistic Processions on the Feast of Corpus Christi have a

long tradition in Catholic Communities throughout the world.

We are happy to "restore" this tradition this year here at St.

Michael's. After the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the

conclusion of the 12:00noon Mass, we will exit the Church in

Procession with the Blessed Sacrament, with prayers and songs

in English and Spanish. We will process "up" 44th Street to

Sixth Ave. and then "down" 45th Street, returning to Church.

We will pause during the procession at the houses of 3 parish

families for a Benediction.

"THOMAS PHELAN NIGHT" at Citi Field FDNY Firefighter and Marine Pilot Thomas Phelan was one of

the Heroes who served our City, especially on September 11,

2001 and throughout his life. Thomas was also a life-long

parishioner of St. Michael's. He passed away on March 16,

2018. Thomas friends, family and loved one are honoring his

Memory (and supporting St. Michael's) by having a Night at

"Citi Field" on Wednesday, June 27th when the Mets will play

the Pittsburgh Pirates at 7:00pm. There will be a ceremony on

the Field honoring Thomas before the game. Tickets in a

special section are being sold for $50 per person. Any

Parishioners who would like to attend can reserve tickets by

coming to the Rectory and leaving a $20 deposit per ticket.

Space is limited, so please reserve your tickets as soon as

possible. If you have any questions or would like more infor-

mation, you can call the Rectory (718-768-6065) and speak

with Fr. Kevin.

TRIP TO LANCASTER Our trip to Lancaster this year is to see the play “JESUS” on

June 23rd, 2018. If you made your deposit you must pay the

entire fee of the trip ($155) as soon as possible. If you have any

WORK DAY FOR CONFIRMATION STUDENTS Our Confirmation work day for all students receiving the

Sacrament of Confirmation this year is on Saturday, May 26th,

from 8am-1pm. Students must come with their sponsors to the

Rectory’s Parking Lot located on 42nd Street.

CONFIRMATION CANDIDATE PRACTICE

The practice for Students will be on Thursday,

May 31st at 7:00pm in the church. Practice for all candidates.

MONTHLY HOLY HOUR FOR FAMILIES &

VOCATIONS - TUESDAY, MAY 29TH

Our next Monthly Hour for Families and Vocations will be on

Tuesday, May 29th at 7:15pm in Church. The Holy Hour will

begin with a "Family Rosary". We encourage all families and

parishioners to come together for this special time of prayer

during this "Year of Vocations".

COLECTA R & R PARA AYUDAR CON LAS

RENOVACIONES DEL CENTRO PARROQUIAL La Segunda Colecta de hoy es para la "Reparación y

Renovación" de nuestros edificios. Las Colectas "R & R" nos

ayudarán, además de los fondos de la Campaña de

Generaciones de Fe, a pagar por la Renovación del centro

parroquial. Les pedimos a los feligreses que sean lo más

¡GRACIAS A NUESTROS CATEQUISTAS !!! Hoy completamos otro año de nuestro Programa de Educación

Religiosa (Catecismo). El número de jóvenes que aprenden de

nuestra fe y se preparan para los sacramentos ha ido creciendo

durante los últimos años. Aprovechamos esta oportunidad para

decir "Gracias" a todos nuestros Catequistas!! Estos

voluntarios son feligreses que dan generosamente su tiempo y

talento para colaborar con los padres de nuestros niños

enseñándoles nuestra fe con la palabra y el ejemplo,

preparando a algunos para el Bautismo, la Primera Comunión y

Confirmación. ¡Agradecemos especialmente a la Sra. Inés

Cordero, nuestra Directora de Educación Religiosa por su

dedicación y liderazgo. En las próximas semanas

comenzaremos las inscripciones para la Educación Religiosa

del próximo año y también invitaremos a los feligreses a

considerar ser voluntarios como Catequistas o Asistentes.

NOCHE DE ALABANZA Y ADORACION El grupo de San Judas de nuestra parroquia de San Miguel les

invita a una noche de alabanza y adoración a Nuestro Señor el

Jueves, 24 de Mayo empezando con el rosario a las 6:30pm en

la iglesia. Tendremos una prédica y Hora Santa. Todos están

invitados.

DIA DE RECORDACION La oficina de la Casa Parroquial estará cerrada el Lunes, 28 de

Mayo, 2018 debido al día de recordación. Habrá sólo una Misa

(Bilingüe). No habrá Misa por la noche, pero el grupo de

oración se reunirá a las 7:00pm en la iglesia.

CAMBIO DE HORA PARA LA MISA EL 29 DE MAYO La Misa de la noche (en español) el martes, 29 de mayo será a

las 6:30p.m., en lugar de las 7:30p.m. Después de la Misa (a las

7:15pm) habrá un Rosario y Hora Santa para Familias y

Vocaciones.

DONACIONES DE ALIMENTOS Estaremos conduciendo una campaña de donaciones de

comida, pidiendo a los feligreses por donaciones de alimentos

no perecederos y enlatados. Se usarán los alimentos en el

comedor de beneficencia (Soup Kitchen) de la parroquia. Los

alimentos más necesarios son frijoles enlatados, vegetales

enlatados, pasta y atún enlatado (NO ARROZ). Puede traer y

colocar sus donaciones de alimentos en las cajas colocadas en

la iglesia o pueden ser llevadas a la Rectoría durante las horas

de oficina. Si tiene alguna pregunta puede llamar a la rectoría

LA FIESTA DE CORPUS CHRISTI- Domingo, 3 de Junio El domingo 3 de junio, fiesta del Corpus Christi (el Cuerpo y la

Sangre de Cristo), tendremos una procesión con el Santísimo

Sacramento comenzando después de la Misa de las 12.00pm.

Las procesiones eucarísticas en la fiesta del Corpus Christi

tienen una larga tradición en Comunidades católicas en todo el

mundo. Estamos felices de "restaurar" esta tradición este año

aquí en San Miguel. Después de la Exposición del Santísimo

Sacramento al final de la Misa de las 12: 00pm, saldremos de

la Iglesia en Procesión con el Santísimo Sacramento, con

oraciones y canciones en inglés y español. Procesaremos

"arriba" la calle 44 hasta la 6 Avenida. y luego "baja" la calle

45, regresando a la iglesia. Haremos una pausa durante la

procesión en las casas de 3 familias de la parroquia para una

bendición.

"NOCHE DEDICADA A THOMAS PHELAN " en Citi Field

El bombero y piloto de FDNY Thomas Phelan fue uno de los

héroes que sirvió a nuestra ciudad, especialmente el 11 de

septiembre de 2001 y durante toda su vida. Thomas también

fue un feligrés San Miguel. Falleció el 16 de marzo de 2018.

Todos sus amigos y familiares honrarán su memoria con una

ceremonia en el Campo de "Citi Field" dedicada a Thomas

antes del juego el miércoles, 27 de junio. Los Mets jugarán con

los Piratas de Pittsburgh a las 7:00pm. Los boletos para el área

especial se están vendiendo por $50 por persona. Los feligreses

que deseen asistir pueden reservar boletos poniéndose en

contacto con la Rectoría y dejando un depósito de $20 por

The Captain Dennis Morales, NYPD & Sr. Peggy Ford, CSJ Memorial Scholarships

We are happy once again, to be able to offer 2 Scholarships (in the amount of $2,000 each) to any

parishioner who will be entering college in Sept. 2018 or who is currently studying in college. These Scholarships,

in honor and memory of Sr. Peggy Ford and Capt. Dennis Morales, NYPD, are given to help young parishioners

who are striving to follow the examples of Sr. Peggy and Captain Morales, by “giving back” to the Community in

service, especially by continuing their education to be better equipped and prepared to serve in a particular career

or vocation.

Nuevamente estamos encantados de poder ofrecer 2 becas (por la cantidad de $2,000 cada una) a cualquier

en la Universidad. Estas Becas, en honor y memoria de la Hermana Peggy Ford y el Capitán Dennis Morales,

Thanks to the generosity of parishioners, Business owners and other contributors, last

Christmas we ran a very successful “Lights of Inspiration” scholarship fundraiser. Today, we’re able

to offer (4) college scholarships in the amount of $2,500.00 each, to help our youth reach their

dreams. We encourage all of those youth who are entering college in the fall or are currently studying

in college; especially those who are not covered by financial aid and who’s parents cannot afford to

pay the tuition.

To apply for the Lights of Inspiration Scholarship, students should submit the following
