    Dr. Craig Rumedy used his mind andacquired tw o of the feathers. H e sent themto Bob Jennings, an ornithologist and anaturalist at Oxley N ature Park in Tulsa.M r . J en ni ng s' c on clu si on s:

    I) The feathers had a straight edge atcallus (the point where they attach to thesk in ). T his is no t ch aracteristic o f a feath erthat has been plucked out or fallen out;

    2) The feathers were pure white andhave a size and shape described as sem i-plum e-like, and are typical in size, shape,co lo r, an d app earance o f do wn feathers;

    3) The feathers had no cage m arks andw ere therefore not from a caged bird;

    4 ) T he ed ges o f th e in dividu al b ranch esof the feathers w ere frayed in such a m an-ner as to suggest the feathers w ere severalweeks or months old or they had beenh an dle d " ve ry r ou gh ly ."

    5) T he feathers are definitely not froma dove or pigeon:

    6) They arc quite typical of the under-belly feathers of a large waterfow l, eg.,e gr et , c rane , h er on , o r g oo se ;

    7) They could well be goose downfcathcrs?5
