Dear All,

I just wanted to take few lines of space to

introduce myself. I am Vinod Nair and now the

Program Manager of Sthreejyoti’ which is an

Important and successful CSR activity from

the house of of Muthoot Pappachan Group

in partnership with Accion International.

I come with around 15 years of corporate experience and out of which 7 years

in the senior management positions with prominent education and training

companies. Prior joining Accion , I have also had the opportunity to associate

with social development initiatives by few government organizations and non-

government organizations in Kerala. I am very excited to be in this position

and I look forward to working together to take Sthreejyoti to greater heights

in the year 2013

Jayanthi ,an year back was a middle aged woman from a very poor family background, living in one of the

sub-urban areas of Coimbatore. She was struggling to meet the ever increasing demand of money and time

to support her family of three girl children and husband Mr Varadharajan, who was working as a helper in a

neighborhood workshop. Their average family income was less than Rs 250 per day.

It was her brother-in-law who suggested her to start a juice business. She started with banana stem juice

and was still finding it difficult to manage a business which she never did before, even after getting a whole

hearted support from family . According to her it was the loan of Rs 5000 from MMM (Coimbaotre 2) and

DoB training from sthreejyoti, which changed the way she manages her business altogether. She applied all

those techniques of debt management and product diversity she acquired through DoB training .Along with

banana stem juice they have added Bermuda grass juice and made them available at different locations

depending on the market demand.

Today apart from the joy of making a profit of Rs 800 per day they also cherish the feel good factor of this

opportunity to provide healthy products to the society. They offer Banana stem juice at INR 5 and Bermuda

grass juice at INR 10. Products are offered at a affordable price in the market with an assurance of clean,

tasty and healthy. Now she gives importance to the sourcing of raw materials in terms of their price and

quality.

A ToT on Dialogue on Business’ was organized from 07th to 09th January 2013 at ACCION Office, Bangalore. The objective of the programme was to refresh the knowledge of the facilitators on DOB through revised modules and experience sharing. The four modules SM, EM, FM and MM were demonstrated using worksheets, games, role plays and group work. Mrs. Ujjwala, Consultant - ACCION was the Chief Facilitator of the training. Mr. Sachin Hirani gave inputs on Finance Management. All the facilitators and Master Facilitators from Kerala, Karnataka and Tamilnadu attended the training.
