Steve McCurry is an American editorial photographer best known for his photograph Afghan Girl, which originally appeared in National Geographic magazine. The form that McCurry focuses on is the human consequences of war, not only showing what war impresses on the landscape, but more upon the human face. He focuses on this to show how the human soul and face reacts to war and how they are impacted by it. He focuses on capturing inspiring but sometimes-bizarre photos that speaks a story. A lot of his work is representing and suggesting ideas of conflict and about the human soul reacting to the conflict. Steve McCurry mostly takes portrait photographs to capture the human face and expressions. He has earned many rewards for his work throughout his career, including the Robert Capa Gold Medal and The Royal Photographic Society's Centenary Medal .
