CAREER HISTORY
CHARITY TRUSTEE & BOARD MEMBERJohn Muir Trust Conservation Charity 2004-09, 2015 -
On board directing strategy, governance, policy. Sit on board’s finance committee
John Muir Trust conservation charity (25,000 supporters) manages nine areas of UK’s finest wild land, runs an environmental education award and conducts political advocacy around wild land issues
NEW WELL DELIVERY TEAM LEADERBP North Sea, Schiehallion, Loyal, Clair, Magnus & Don Fields Oct 2012 – June 2015
Managed multi-disciplinary teams of geologists, geophysicists and reservoir engineers planning and executing new wells and well decommissioning
$2bn, 14 well drilling project on Schiehallion and Loyal fields : Co-ordinated between BP departments and partners, collated budget, chaired partner meetings, lead subsurface team planning the subsea wells (approx. $150mm per well)
Clair field appraisal drilling programme including coring, logging, well-testing ERD well on Magnus field with focus on pore pressure and wellbore stability Decommissioning of Don and Magnus wells.
RESERVOIR MANAGEMENT TEAM LEADERBP North Sea, Foinaven Field Apr 2010 – Sept 2012
Lead subsurface team managing the Foinaven field (ca 1Bn bbl) - optimising production and defining life of field strategy for future field development
Included building reservoir models, evaluating base production, infill opportunities, satellite field opportunities (BP and third party), options for debottlenecking or replacing FPSO production facility.
4D seismic. My team worked the interpretation and understanding of 4D seismic and used it as part of the history match for the dynamic model
Team built major new static and dynamic reservoir models, within schedule Conducted annual reserves reviews both internally and with DECC Evaluated new technologies including EOR
SUBSURFACE TEAM LEADERBP North Sea, Harding & Maclure Fields Sept 2007 – Mar 2010
Revolutionised the development strategy for the Harding field. Identified potential for infill drilling and satellite prospects extending oil COP by six years and creating $100’s mm value
Optimised production within existing reservoir, and operating constraints. Contact management critical via aquifer, water injection and gas injection. Planned new wells
Created value through identifying true potential of satellite discoveries and exploration prospects ultimately leading to successful divestment of asset
SENIOR PETROLEUM / COMPLETIONS ENGINEER March 1998 – Aug 2007BP West of Shetland and Southern North Sea fields
Lead well intervention and surveillance across 8 SNS fields (120 wells) in 2005-6 delivering double my production target
Planned deep-water subsea well interventions. Coiled tubing, wireline, e-line, sand clean-outs, insert valves, camera surveys, PLTs, re-perforations, pipe conveyed fishing
Planned ten subsea well completions with sand control technologies, two with intelligent completions Lead multi-discipline team for innovative P19 well. Reduced costs by 53%, $40M by successfully
combining two production targets and one appraisal target into a single well Planned and co-ordinated High Pressure, High Temperature (HPHT) well test in North Sea
EARLY CAREER Sep 1988 – March 1998 Petroleum and completion engineering roles with BP and service company. Designed and supervised a wide range of completions and well interventions, specialising in sand
control. Optimised field wide production. Quarry Manager role : Managed operations staff and sales staff of an 800 000 ton p.a. quarry
