Sterling is promoted by Mr. Kuldeep Saluja and Mr. Laxmi Narain Kesarwani. The company was launched in the year 1994 with a turnover of INR 18mn (USD 0.42 mn).

Before starting its first plant in 1994, at Kundli (Haryana), the promoters were involved in procuring dairy products from othermanufacturers and then distributing the same through a wide chain of distributors and dealers spread all over the country

The company has grown by leaps and bounds, with its turnover reaching a record high INR 7,050 mn (USD 163.80mn) by 2007-08, thereby registering a very impressive compounded annual growth of 23 percent from 2003-08
