It’s not too late to apply to scholarships and bursaries! Many scholarships and bursaries have deadlines in the next few months. Students should visit the guidance office for more information Our graduation assembly will be held on April 6. You will receive information about the graduation ceremony. Prom is May 26 at Presidente Banquet Hall. Summer School Registration Information The York Region District School Board will once again be offering acceleration and credit reinforcement courses during the summer. Acceleration Courses (for those who wish to take a new course or upgrade a previous mark) will run from July 4 to July 29, 2016. Credit Recovery Reinforcement Courses (for those who have not been successful in gaining the credit AND have received the recommendation of the home school administration) will run for two sessions. Session 1 will run from July 4 to July 15, 2016. Session 2 will run from July 18 to July 29, 2016. 2-credit summer school Co-op session for Grade 11 and 12, applications are availble in the Guidance Office ESL credit courses are available. Seneca College is offering Summer Job Workshops for students at the Seneca Employment Centre in Newmarket. Students can get help with Job search and interview skills, as well as with their resume and cover letter. See the flyer on the Newsletters page.

Bill Crothers SS in Unionville presents a Return to Learn Symposium “Concussion Management” on Monday April 11th, 7:00pm - an informative evening about sports-related concussion management for parents, students, educators and coaches. Emily Carr SS presents their Expert Speaker Series with Robin Taub – “Raising Money Smart Kids”. Join them on Tuesday, April 19th, 7:15 – 8:30 pm, for this entertaining and interactive presentation, based on Robin Taub’s best-selling book, which teaches parents how to raise money-smart kids, including their key role as financial role models for their children. Tommy Douglas SS is hosting “Engage in Change”, an information fair that will showcase Community Partners with opportunities for students to complete their Community Involvement Hours. The fair will take place at TDSS on Thursday, April 27th at 6:00 – 8:00 pm. All students from all local schools are welcome. Maple HS presents “Parents as Partners” on Monday, May 2, 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Maple HS. Michelle Cassidy, the YRDSB Mental Health Lead will speak about “Putting the Health in Mental Health”. Province Fostering Youth Entrepreneurship Opportunities Ontario is now accepting applications for the Summer Company program, which helps youth start their own business and gain the skills they need to succeed. Summer Company offers mentorship, training and awards of up to $3,000 to students aged 15 to 29. Students can apply online until May 6. York Small Business Summer opportunities Last summer, the York Small Business Enterprise Centre had 15 students successfully complete the program, generating a combined revenue of more than $90,000. A variety of businesses were opened including swim schools, dog walking, escape room, tennis school and stationery items imported from Japan. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience. a) Click on the School Cash Online button on our school’s website at http://stephenlewis.ss.yrdsb.ca/ On the cashonline site, select the “Get Started Today” button.

b) Complete each of the three Registration Steps

*For Security Reasons your password, requires 8 characters, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and a number.

Step 2: Confirmation Email

A registration confirmation email will be automatically forwarded to you. Click on the link provided inside the email to confirm your email and School Cash Online account. The confirmation link will open the School Cash Online site prompting you to sign into your account. Use your email address and password just created with your account.

Step 3: Find Student NOTE: A STUDENT NUMBER IS REQUIRED This step will connect your children to your account.

a) Enter the School Board Name b) Enter the School Name c) Enter Your Child’s Student # and Last Name d) Select Continue e) On the next page confirm that you are related to the child, check in the

Agree box and select Continue f) Your child has been added to your account

Step 4: View Items or Add Another Student

If you have more children, select “Add Another Student” option and repeat the steps above. 5 children can be added to one parent account. If you do not wish to add additional children, select “View Items For Students” option. A listing of available items for purchase will be displayed.

After logging in and adding an item to the cart, proceed to the payment option screen by clicking on “Checkout” at the top of the page.

On the Select Payment Method page, select Interac Online as the payment method, and click on “Continue”

You will be taken to the Interac Online page, where you can see the financial institutions that supports Interac Online. Please select your financial institution and sign in using your personal banking credentials.

You will see an invoice for your purchase, where you can then select an account from which to pay. Accept the payment to continue.

You will be taken back to th School Cash Online purchase summary page. Here, click on “Complete your order” to complete the transaction and pay for your item. Otherwise, the transaction will not be completed and the payment will be returned to your account.

Once you have successfully completed your order, you will be taken to the receipt page where you can print your receipt.
