Work Experience

March 2012- Present DICKENS Vauxhall Wrexham - Diagnostic Technician

Working within Service and Diagnostics department I am entrusted with cars and vans from the general public and large fleets. This position involved the maintenance, repair, after sales care, accessory fitting and diagnostic interpretation using specialist equipment of the Vauxhall range of cars and vans plus other makes and models. Other roles included mentoring and developing fellow members of staff, ensuring a steady flow of work through the workshop, updating and ensuring all diagnostic equipment and software stayed current.

July 2008 – Present Chester Sailing and Canoeing Club. Working voluntarily for the sailing club

managing the everyday running and service of the clubs bar handling cash, managing stock and ordering,

Adult Dinghy Instructor. Outside the workplace I participate in an intensive adult sail training course which requires exceptional communication and organisational skills.

Club’s Media Representative. I have also recently taken on the role of media and communications officer of Chester Sailing club. Within a timeframe of 3 months I have:

1. Developed the club’s Facebook group. It has now become the primary form of communication to members.

2. Organised social events and an event that attracted sailors from across the region. An update on racing rules is a rather dry topic, not an easy sell! This has raised the club’s profile in the northwest.

3. Made contact with the local press. We will be producing race reports to raise awareness of our activities within the local community.

4. West Lancashire Yacht Club – I promoted the Chester Sailing Club & raised the profile of the Dickens Vauxhall dealership through sponsorship and advertising. This was a great opportunity to build and organise the Team from start to finish.

Day to day responsibilities included supervising a team of Marine Engineers general narrow boat refit, repairs and maintenance, including the installation and

repair of marine electronics, engines, gearboxes, 12v and 240v electronics and LPG systems

General maintenance of the Boatyard and Marina encompassing all aspects of the day to day running of the site and fleet

Handled the responsibility of hiring staff and monitoring the ongoing training session

Responsible for creating annual sales plan for external, internal and retail parts sales

Finalised the quote price of parts before sending it to customers Attended monthly management meetings to review inter-department issues and

2006 – 2008

The Spital Vaults. As Licensee and lease holder for the premises under the flag of my company HARSPRCUM Ltd, I on a day to day basis dealt with all aspects of running a successful public house. Behind the scenes I was also responsible for VAT returns, Wages, HM Revenue and Customs returns. Aug 2002 - 2006 The Plough Inn. I began working as a Barman serving the general public with alcoholic refreshments, stock taking, and monies handling within the public house. I was responsible for customer service and the preparation of serving areas.  Within the last 12 months of my employment my job title and responsibilities changed and I became Bar Manager / Cellar manager and managed all stock control, staff relations, and monies handling. This involves weekly stock taking, rotation, ordering, delivery and quality control of all consumables (both in the form of beer and wine and all other consumables). I was responsible for the training of all staff to the high standard expected from dealing with the public. I also dealt with all staff queries, relations and organising the everyday duties that the staffs are required to complete within the public house. I was solely responsible for dealing with the tills money handling and gratuity division between staff members. I had also as cellar manager planned, organised and run a successful Beer Festival within the pub along with helping the pub gain awards and recommendations for its successful range of beers and service thus promoting the business.
