87% of office workers say when their workspace is
disorganized they feel less productive than when their
workspace is organized.
Estimated 38 working hours (or close to one work week) per person
each year are lost as a result of looking for misplaced items in the
office.
Now we know how much time and resources one can waste by being
disorganized.
So follow these simple steps to end the chaos in your work life.
Schedule everything so that important dates never slip from your mind.
A calendar lets you to easily schedule all your tasks, events, and
project milestones.
Before you can organize, you must prioritize. Clutter is a major time
waster. Clear the clutter from your desk;
discard those things that are unnecessary.
If you keep everything in the same place, you can easily find it later.
There are several great tools to help you keep all documents, designs and conversations in one central place.
Cleaning your messy surroundings is the first step to getting organized.
Take the time to clean up and organize your desk and workspace
everyday.
Task lists are great when it comes to organization, but only if used
correctly. The correct way to use them is limit tasks to 5 or fewer per
day and ensure that you complete it.
Having actionable goals helps prevent your day from being taken over by random intrusions. A well planned day will help a great deal in getting
things organized.
Organized people are smart about what they do and don’t do. Don’t try
to do each and everything by yourself; delegate and give some
duties to others if you can.
