STEM education continues to dominate the skills agenda, with more and more employers joining the debate on how we develop and prepare our young people to address the looming skills gap. The issue is not just an educational one - it’s obvious from a number of recently published reports that collaboration between industry, education institutions and policy makers is the only way we are going to create real sustainable change.

There are many inspiring examples of schools, colleges and employers undertaking targeted initiatives to encourage and support students through their initial study choices and into careers in STEM. We have a raft of exciting initiatives, global challenges and true collaborations that are making a difference, however there is still cause for concern. Too many students bypass STEM subjects at school, notably at A level, and notably girls. Of those that take STEM-related degrees, too many then drop out of the follow-on careers. The question is, what to do about it?

The STEMtech Conference and Showcase 2015 will bring together educators, industry leaders and policy makers and will be welcoming representatives from a diverse range of organisations and hearing about how these organisations are helping to drive STEM learning initiatives and innovations.
