WHAT IS STEM CELL??

Adult stem cell: can be found in developed tissue.

A stem cell is a cell that still immature and potentially specialised and modified into various

types of other different cell all over the body.

Embryonic stem cell: cell that is produced as soon as new fertilized egg begins to undergo further division.

Stem cell research derived

from aborted babies is

ethically wrong.

Stem cell research requires the early embryo to be destroyed in order to obtain embryonic stem cell. In the other words, this means destroying a potential human life.

According to a research from an article of ‘Embryonic Stem Cell Research: An Ethical

Dilemma’, the article is discussing about the real status of an early developed embryo that have its own dignity and we should give full

respect of a person same just like others although that embryo still does not have the

vivid characteristics of a person. This is because that embryo is said to be a human being in the

infant stage.

Various religions in this world are strongly disagrees about the stem cell research derived from aborted babies.

Conservative Protestant Churches, Roman Catholic, and Orthodox define the early developing embryo has the human status from the beginning of the conception.

Islam and Judaism define an early embryo will have full status of a human after 40 days of fertilization.

The stem cell research derived from the aborted

babies contains no humanity action.

This research leads to illegal abortion act.

According to Wertz D., an author of ‘History of Us: Stem Cell Research Gene Therapy’, this kind of action is strongly objected by President of United State of America, Barrack Obama. He said that, the act of abortion was frowned upon by the government.

Congress extremely does not want to be involved of any accountability to abortion. That was until Obama came

on the scene.

There are another alternative ways to inculcate in order to get stem cell despite of embryonic stem cell originated from abortion.

According to Cohen M., he stated that rather than abortion, stem cell from research can be

collected by using cord blood. This kind of method absolutely a method with no pain as

well as its clones version does not dealing with life of humans. Furthermore, cord blood has

been very successful in curing 77 diseases so far.

Stem cell research derived from aborted babies is facing a lot of unsolved financial

issues.

This research is a high cost requirement research.

According to Jones D and Byrne, the authors of ‘Stem Cell Research and

Cloning: Contemporary Challenges to Our Humanity, stem cell therapy is one of the research initiative that have become the dominant trend of the high cost rescue

medicine in spite of a high tech research.

Political leaders debating over the financial problems too.

According to Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine written by Varnee Murugan, on August

2001, President of United States, George W. Bush made a full decision in banning the federal funding for all the research regarding the recent

created human embryonic stem cell lines.

CONCLUSION

As a citizen with humanity and high in intellectual education, there is no doubt for us to keep on going with this kind of heartless research.

In spite of using aborted embryos for the research, there are a lot of other great alternatives that can be practiced.

The reasons of why we should be banned this stem cell research should be emphasized to our new generation.

It is no doubt that stem cell research derived from the aborted babies should be banned due to its ethical wrong, contains no humanity action as well as unsolved financial issues that curb around this research.
