Entomologists study insects, such as ants, bees, andbeetles. They also study arthropods, a related group ofspecies that includes spiders and scorpions.

Most entomologists focus on aspecific type of insect. For instance,an entomologist who focuses on beesis called an apiologist, one whostudies beetles is called a coleopteristand one who studies butterflies isknown as a lepidopterist.

Park rangers work with other staff and volunteers tomaintain footpaths, gates, stiles and bridges in parksacross the UK. They are the eyes and ears of the nationalpark authority as they are out and about in the parks mostof the time.

They provide a contact betweenvisitors, local people and use theirlocal knowledge to tell peoplewhat to see, where to go, andabout the wildlife and history ofthe park.

Nano scientists study the infinitely small – the atoms andsub-atomic particles that make up all matter in theuniverse. To give you an idea of the scale there are amillion nanometres in a millimetre.

They study the properties ofsubstances on this scale to create newtypes of materials for different uses.Possible developments could bemobile phones that never need to becharged or materials that canwithstand a rocket’s re-entry into theearth's atmosphere.
