Thank you guys for the opportunity to do this interview. From this corner of Latin America, we’ve been listening to your music since Shauna McLarnon sent us your material. Why Stella Diana?…Where does the name come from? The name comes from an ancient neapolitan song of 1600. One verse says “Stella Diana” so we decided to give us this name, creating a sort of reference with our city Naples.

Your brilliant mix of psychedelia with shoegaze and dream-like atmospheres, give as a result a delightful sound. How would you describe the sonic style of Stella Diana?…and i do ask this question mainly for those readers who haven´t listened and may be curious about Alhena.Thank you for your appreciation. Yes it's just as you said. We want to create a mix of sonic vibrations full of dark lights. We love deep reverb and evocative music but while you are dreaming there is this violent wall of sound that hits you.

If there´s something a bit rare to come accross among bands who come from non english speaking countries when looking for some exposure abroad, is the fact of not changing lyrics to english. Is this something that you decided consciously or it just happened to be that way?The question is very particular. We decided to use our language cause it was a kind of challenge. Italian is very very complicated to use in rock music but, in the last year, we have been thinking about using English. The Italian audience and press are totally convinced that if you sing in Italian, you are equal to the tradition italian music or to Italian rock bands (like Verdena and Marlene Kunz… and we don't like these bands). We hate this situation. But there is another reason to make the switch to English. We would like to reach as many people as possible around the world and not be limited by language barriers.

You have taken part in quite a few compilations and have just released your debut EP. May we expect a

full.lenght album anytime soon?Oh yes. Our new album will be released in March 2016. There will be more shoegazing and it’s a bit dark.

Govinda, an original song by Kula Shaker, appears in your EP. Does this song mean something special for you?We love Kula Shaker but it is simply a song that we like to play during our acoustic gigs, similar to what we do for Pale Saints, Mazzy Star, Galaxie 500 tracks and more. We like to play them more esoterically and slow.

What kind of things inspire your songs? What do you consider to be your main influences? So many things: our feelings, sensations, a particular moment. Our influences are so different. Let me think: movies, philosophy, literature; every art form moves something within us.

We have now (and it´s been going on for a few years) a sort of Shoegaze revival: many new bands; old-school bands reuniting; re-editions of former

albums,etc…How is the scene in Italy, currently?There are amazing bands. In Her Eye, The Gluts and Novanta from Milan, Rev Rev Rev from Modena, La Casa Al Mare from Rome, Clustersun from Catania (Sicily), and Electric Floor from Cosenza. i apologize if i have forgotten anyone.

Internet and the way we exchange information has created endless possibilities and tools that have meant, for musicians, the chance of reaching a wider audience, without a great effort, but, in the other hand, there are far too much releases on the net. The amount of singles, albums, compilations, etc is mindblowing. How do you reckon that bands can hold the attention and building a crowd nowdays, since the new generations look for new music by the day and for them everything is more ephemeral? Internet is a great resource, but you have to use it wisely. Technology has allowed anyone to create a band and play music without gaining experience. This is not good because there are too many bands and for this reason the audience loses interest.

More like on facebook doesn't mean you're famous, doesn't mean more gigs or more visibility. It's a critical moment for indie music and every band fights for little. I'm not very optimistic, although i know for sure that the quality, seriousness and talent always pay at the end...

What can we expect from Stella Diana in the upcoming year?First of all a new album, then we want to spread our music everywhere... some videos too.
