What is Steampunk, anyway?It's a writing, art, fashion and design genre that combines the romantic Victorian age with the steam-poweredtechnology of the industrial revolution.It became popular inthe 1980'sand early1990's. It iscurrently enjoying a resurgence.

The term “steampunk” was coined by author K.W. Jeter when he waslooking for a term to describe stories set in a 19th century time period with mechanical elements similar to H.G. Wells'The Time Machine &20,000 Leagues UnderThe Sea by JulesVerne.

Time travel, futurism, dirigibles,steam & spring power, gears & vintage
machinery are all part of the steampunk image.

On Thursday, February 24th,your class along with other3-D art classes will be exhibitingSteampunk projects at thePublic Library. Also included in the art show will be work by the 2-Dart classes. The exhibit will be from 5:30 - 7:00. All students, parents, and friends are invited!
