IT’S ALL ABOUT LOCATIONCedar Rapids, Iowa’s second largest city, is home to hundreds of public,
private and non-profit organizations. In recent years, Coe students have interned at local companies such as Rockwell Collins, FDIC, RSM International (McGladrey), Transamerica, CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, ING Financial, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and the Red Cross.
SPELLMAN RESEARCH ASSOCIATESEach year, several students majoring within the department are selected
as Spellman Research Associates. They spend the summer at Coe working on a research project with a faculty member and receive a stipend, housing allowance and one free course credit.
SEE THE WORLDStudents in the Business Administration & Economics Department have
opportunities to study business-related topics through off-campus programs in Chicago, England, France, New York City, Sweden, Japan and many other locations. In addition, students have the option to study transition economies in Central Europe and marketing and international business in Italy during May Term.
PLAY THE STOCK MARKET...FOR REALDepartment majors may participate in a year-long, hands-on course using
the Birkey Investment Fund to analyze stocks and mutual funds. Students select stocks and funds for investments and execute real trades using real money. This enhances their analytical and communication skills.
