After several years of R&D and testing,

St. Croix has perfected an innovative new

Taper Enhancement Technology (TET) that

begins with precision-cut, curved blank

patterns made possible by a state-of-the-art

computerized pattern cutting machine.

When combined with IPC-mandrels, these

unique patterns create blanks with better

actions and improved sensitivity. This

pattern design and cutting technology is

a dramatic departure from traditional

straight-line patterns cut by hand. TET will

debut in the all-new Legend Xtreme series.

Developed exclusively by St. Croix, Integrated Poly Curve®

(IPC®) tooling technology has rapidly become the engineering leader in rodmaking. Designed to eliminateall transitional points in the rod blank, IPC-engineeredrods feature smoother actions, increased strength and greater sensitivity.

ART™ layers

ART™ is an exotic carbon fiber material that adds amagnitude (10X) of strength with virtually no increasein blank diameter or rod weight.

IPC® blanks have a moreuniform wall thicknessfrom tip to butt

Non-IPC® blanks have distinct transition points

Engineering/Technology:When you set out to uncover what makes a St. Croix different from other rods, you need look no further than the engineer sitting right beside the rod designer. It’s a partnership that’s produced

such breakthroughs as St. Croix’s exclusive Integrated Poly Curve® and Advanced Reinforcing Technology.™ Rod performance is only as good as the design behind it – so before we even think

about sending a rod through for production, we spend as much time as necessary in the design department to ensure that every St. Croix rod is engineered and developed to outperform all others.

Integrated Poly Curve® (IPC®) Technology

Illustration above is an exaggeration to demonstrate the difference between IPC and non-IPC blanks.

Advanced ReinforcingTechnology™ (ART™) Taper Enhancement

Technology

St. Croix once again breaks new ground in premium rod manufacturing technology with the development of a new Fortified Resin System (FRS), which combines a fortified super resin with new computer operated curing ovens that provide improved temperature and time management through all stages of the curing cycle. FRSprevents microbuckling by keeping the carbon fibers in proper alignment. Blanks manufactured using this advanced manufacturing protocol test out consistently tobe 33% stronger than those built with standard resins and curing methods. Rod series manufactured with FRS include Legend Elite, Legend TournamentBass/Walleye/Musky, Legend Salt, Legend Surf, Bank Robber, High Stick Drifter – and the newly redesigned Legend Xtreme.

Fortified ResinSystem

Advanced Reinforcing Technology™ (ART™) is an exotic carbon fibermaterial that adds a magnitude (10X) of strength with virtuallyno increase in blank diameter or weight. ART significantly improvesthe hoop strength of the blank by preventing it from deformingor “ovaling” under a severe load, such as a powerful hook set.ART is also a critical part of our slim-profile ferrule design.

If there is any one thing that we’re most proud ofhere at St. Croix, it’s our service. Nowhere else willyou find such dedication to fishermen. Becausewhen you invest in a St. Croix rod, we believe youalso invest in a relationship with us. And we’ll doeverything possible to ensure your complete satisfaction. We stand by our craftsmanship withsome of the finest warranties in the business.

Service and warranty policies:

The“Action” of a rod is determined by where a rod flexes along the blank. Faster action rods flex mostly

near the tip.Moderate actionrods flex morenear the middle of the blank.Slower action rods flex downinto the butt section.

The “Power” of a rod refers to how much pressure it takes to flex the rod. Different rod powers areengineered to efficiently handle a certain range of lure

weights and line sizes. To select a rod power thatwill perform best for you, simply narrow your choicesto rods designed to castthe weight of lures – andsizes of lines – you’ll fishwith most often.

Despite what old-timers will tell you, it’s not all about instincts – or the resilience of thehuman spirit. Sometimes it’s a matter of wrapping your fingers around a big wad of technological advances and letting ’er rip. And nothing puts more technology in your fishy hands than the newly re-engineered LegendXtreme.® Right down to the St. Croix®-designed grip, these 29 insanely sensitive models are handcrafted withhigh-modulus/high-strain SCV graphite with a carbon-matte scrim and reinforcedwith super-high-modulus SCVI graphite for added weight reduction. Our TET (TaperEnhancement Technology) blank design improves sensitivity. Add in ART,™ IPC® andFRS and shazzam, you’re ready to rip lips.

Intuition and determination will get you out of errands and the like. After that advanced engineering takes over.

As with any sport, people tend to lose interest if the outcome seems a forgoneconclusion. It’s not even a bad idea to play up the underdog role. Of course, that will be a hard sell if you don’t keep your Legend Tournament® Bass rods tucked away. Last year we redesigned these 25 technique-specific, tournament-grade LTs and made them even lighter and loaded with ART™ and IPC® tech-nology. Tuned with cutting-edge components, they leave nothing to chance –except steps number two and three on the podium.

You won again. Good thing you worked onyour expression of surprise last night.

Sentimentalist, yes, Especially when it comes to keepsakes that help you rememberthe ones you love at those special moments. Like right before you gently toss themover the side of the boat. Avid Pearl rods can generate some sentimental feelingsas well. But beneath that glitzy fuchsia-metallic exterior is some hardcore, fish-demoralizing technology. Beginning with a high modulus SC III graphite blank thatincorporates our exclusive IPC® technology, these beauties are highly specialized,technique-specific rods that despite their appearance are all business on the water.Should probably get a few snapshots of these as well.

Nothing wrong with having more photos taken with fish than with next of kin. Right?

No one appreciates the guy who goes overboard in the lawn care arena. It’s downright un-neighborly. To keep the peace, put the weed wacker down andpick up a St. Croix® Panfish rod. Designed with two approaches in mind: Spinningrods up to 7' in ultra-light and light powers with precise, crisp actions; or if you like dropping jigs into brush piles, the 8' to 11' models with moderate-fast actions. Both forever raise the performance bar when it comes to spinning rods for panfish.Invite a few neighbors along and everyone can forget the lawn – for now.

There’s a fine line between maintaining your yard and trying to makethe neighbor’s yard look bad.

There is a big difference between a secret and simply not flaunting your goodies.Wisdom tells us the latter will keep a household running smoothly and all partiesrelatively content. While it is hard to imagine, some people simply aren’t asimpressed with premium SC II graphite blanks and high-grade components likethose found in the Premier® line of spinning rods as others. The fact that thesespinning rods are fast, light and loaded with genuine fortitude does not elicit thesame response as, say, taking care of tonight’s dinner.

Concealment and domestic bliss go hand in hand, hence the two-piece models.

Life is too short to lament the chances missed– or to wish that you had a rod up to the task. Hmmm, that would then steer us tothe Premier® family of casting rods. Thirty eight handcrafted models constructedwith premium SCII graphite and top-grade components, these ever-popular rodsaren’t in the habit of letting anything slip by – especially if it’s long, mean and toothy.

It’s not that you choose musky over your spouse. It’s just a known fact that fishing licensesexpire, while marriage licenses don’t.

When the journey of life takes you into tidal basins, estuaries and salt marshes, not to mention barrier islands, it’s good to know you have skills and equipment tosee tomorrow. As for skills, it’s good to know how to take the helm in all conditions. And in the equipment department – a St. Croix® Avid Inshore rod is necessary. IPC® combined with high-modulus SCIII graphite blanks on all 22 models offer a solid foundation for a wide variety of species. Add zirconium guides with 316 stainless-steel frames for superior saltwater corrosion protection – and survivalis no longer the question. What’s for dinner? That’s the question.

Navigating through life’s many challenges is no walk in the park. In fact, sometimes it takes a couple big 250-horse diesels.

Which means you need to, inwords reminiscent of Walt Whitman, sap the marrow out of each one. And when itcomes to good, hard sapping there’s nothing like a St. Croix® Legend® Surf rod. True surf-casting specialists, these rods are supremely balanced and designed for uncompromising performance. With our exclusive ART™ and IPC® technologies, and equipped with small-diameter Fuji® LC surf guides, you can effortlessly chuckthe rig of your choice in nautical miles. Now that, Captain, is living.

Perhaps try something like this. “Ah, the Star of the North – true land of romance. Imaginelooking a salmon – I mean, soul mate – in the eyes and pledging lifelong devotion whilethe Northern Lights dance elegantly in the background. Doesn’t that sound romantic, sis?” Special Note: Do not present this while holding a Legend Elite® fly rod. Althoughyou may find the combination of slim-profile ferrules, stunning cosmetics matched with premium, high-modulus, high-strain SCV graphite blanks featuring ART™ and IPC®

technology quite seductive, it could create the impression you have a hidden agenda. It will not help to mention Legend Elites also feature SCVI graphite in the lower portionof the rod for added power and reduced weight along with FRS (Fortified Resin System)for strength and durability. At this point, it’s best to keep the topic focused on the bride.

Cardboard and a Sharpee® only gets you so far. And any fisherman knows thefarther you go, the better it gets. Whether you’re heading out to distant watersor desperate for a ride back to the pub, appealing to the fraternal nature ofanglers is often your only hope. Your chance of survival increases if you’resporting a Rio Santo series rod as well. Built in our Fresnillo facility, they offera smooth, moderate-fast action that is a pleasure to fish – at all skill levels.Outfitted with quality components from tip-top to reel seat, they let any would-be rides know that you’re a sensible and knowledgeable angler, not a lunaticmasquerading in waders with a taser in his vest.

It’s good to know that if it comes to it, it is not impossible to hitchhike in waders.

Ice Rod Strike Indicator System – How it Works:

St. Croix’s strike indicator system is adjustable, so itssensitivity level can accommodate different lure sizes. To make the bobber more sensitive, push the springforward through the grommet. To make it less sensitive, push it back. (illustration no. 1)

The system is most sensitive when there is a 30-degreebend (position 2) in the spring. To find the bottom, lower the jig until the indicator returns to position 1.Then, either slowly reel up once or lift the rod slightlyuntil the indicator is back to position 2. (illustration no. 2)
