How to get an Oyster card and top upYou can renew the ticket stored on your card or topup your credit balance:
• Online at tfl.gov.uk/oyster • At most Tube and London Overground stations
through the touchscreen ticket machines and the station ticket offices
• At over 3,500 Oyster Ticket Stops. Find your nearest one at tfl.gov.uk/fares
• At some National Rail ticket offices• At seven London Travel Information Centres,
which also offer travel advice, free maps and entry tickets to many attractions. They are open seven days a week in:-Liverpool Street Tube station -Piccadilly Circus Tube station -Euston National Rail station-Victoria National Rail station -Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 3 Tube Station -Camden Town Hall - opposite King's Cross station (Monday to Friday only)
• By phone on 0845 330 9876*(open 0800 - 2000 daily)* For BT residential customers, calls to the Oyster helpline will cost no more than 3.5p per minute, (current at May 2007). The price on non-BT phones/lines may be different.
International visitors can now pre-purchasean Oyster card at visitbritaindirect.com
Using Oyster on National Rail7 Day and longer period Travelcards stored on Oystercan be used across National Rail services in London.
If using Oyster to pay as you go for single journeysplease check with the train operator before travelling,as not all routes are covered on National Rail.
Taxis and private hireAlways make sure your taxi or private hire vehicleis licensed and legal. All unbooked minicabs areillegal, even if the vehicle or the driver is licensed.All minicab journeys must be booked through alicensed private hire operator. If your minicab isn’tbooked, it’s not legal and it’s not safe.

Heritage bus routesTravelcards are valid on the Heritage routes. The famous Routemaster buses run every 15 minutes daily, from about 0930 to1830, so you can hop on and off while visiting London'sattractions. They operate alongside the standardservices on the following two routes:• Bus route 9: between Aldwych and
Royal Albert Hall (returning from Prince of Wales Gate)
• Bus route 15: between Trafalgar Square and Tower Hill
The conductor has a hand-held device which youneed to touch with your Oyster card. These buses are not wheelchair accessible.

What is an Oyster card?Oyster is the easiest way to pay for single journeys onbus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground andsome National Rail services in London. You canstore your Travelcard/Bus Pass and/or credit to payas you go on your card.
How to use yourOyster card Just touch your Oystercard flat on a yellowcard reader each timeyou make a journey.
Tube, DLR, London Overground andNational Rail servicesAlways touch in at the start of your journey andtouch out at the end, even if the gates are open.
BusesAlways touch in as you board. You do not need totouch out.
TramsAlways touch in on the yellow reader on the tramstop platform before boarding a tram. You do notneed to touch out.
How to pay for your journeys with OysterPay for your journeys as you goYou can store credit on your card to pay for singlejourneys as you go. You can travel as many times asyou like in a day (from 0430 and before 0430 thenext day) and you'll never pay more than the cost ofan equivalent One Day Travelcard or One Day Bus &Tram Pass.
