My dear Parishioners,
In three weeks we will reach the end of the church year with the
celebration of the glorious Feast of Christ the King.
Between now and then, our liturgies will be concentrating on the
end times, which means that we should be focusing on the end
times. Since November is the month of the Holy Souls, whom we
hope to join at our passing, it’s rather appropriate—actually, nec-
essary — that we give some thought to the topic; our personal end
time and the end time of the world itself as we know it.
From our human point of view, it is not always pleasant or even
desirable to face the fact that it is all going to end sometime, some
day, for each of us and for our world. Yet, it is something that we
mortals must do over and over again during the course of our all
too short lives. Why? Because we can become so immersed in the
“reality show” that we can easily and conveniently forget that our
real life — as designed by the Creator and made possible by our
Redeemer —is not limited by the boundaries of the visible world.
Rather, it is meant for unending existence in an unbelievable expe-
rience of Divine Love; an eternal “now” caught up in the life of the
Most Blessed Trinity, an astounding reality we often call “heaven.”
Today’s Gospel about the wise and foolish virgins comes as a re-
minder that the time we have on earth is a time of preparation for
the fullness of life we are called to enjoy when the Groom calls us
to join him at the eternal wedding banquet. God has provided us
with all that we need to prepare ourselves for this next and greatest
phase of our existence. The gifts of faith, hope and love—and so
many more graces—showered upon us at our baptism, a sacramen-
tal way of life that tightens the bond between Christ, ourselves and
all our sisters and brothers, and especially the celebration of the
Eucharist when we are nourished for life’s journey by the living
Word, the Body and the Blood! A plenteous supply of “oil” to
keep our lamps burning brightly as we await the Bridegroom!

"As each one has received a gift, use
it to serve one another as good
stewards of God's varied grace"
(1 Pt 4:10).
What identifies a steward? Safeguarding material and human resources and using them responsibly is one answer; so is generous giving of time, talent, and treasure. But being a Christian steward means more. As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord.
Prayer for the Victims in Texas - Nov. 5, 2018 Good LORD, God Almighty, please hear our prayers as we take time out to grieve for those killed and injured in this horrific attack at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. May You grant eternal rest to the dead, and comfort the wounded and their loved ones. May you heal them of their wounds, bring peace to their hearts, and supply all of their needs. Make Yourself known to them and shelter them under Your mighty wings! In Jesus name, Amen.
Springs, Texas. Dale consuelo a los
heridos y sus seres queridos. Que
puedan sanar de sus heridas, traeles
paz a sus corazones, ayudalos con
todas sus necesidades, y protégelos
bajo tus poderosas alas.

invitación a estar preparados.
"anunciamos tu muerte, proclamamos tu resurrección, ven
