AFFIDAVIT OF PATERNITY
I, ALLAN POLINAIRE FITZ, a native of the State of Saint Lucia and Citizen of the United States of America of Apt. 2K, 97 Uclid Avenue, Brooklyn New York 11208, U.S.A. but presently at Cedars Road Castries in the State of Saint Lucia make oath and say as follows:
I am the biological FATHER of MARCELLA KELINA ALCINDOR nee JACOB born in Saint Lucia on 23rd day of March 1966.
That the said MARCELLA KELINA ALCINDOR nee JACOB had always lived with her mother MARIA JACOB as an infant and had always been maintained by me during her years as a minor. I have always kept in constant and close contact with her.
That I was desirous of MARCELLA KELINA ALCINDOR nee JACOB carrying my surname FITZ and asked her to have her birth records rectified in Saint Lucia so that the records can have me as father and her surname can be changed. Presently her birth records have no father stated since I was not married to her mother the said MARIA JACOB.
I have been informed by solicitors that the Birth Records of MARCELLA KELINA ALCINDOR nee JACOB cannot be rectified to insert my name as father as the Laws of Saint Lucia are not retro active and were enacted after 1967. However, she may change her name by Deed Poll to carry my surname FITZ which she has subsequently done.
That I have further been informed by my solicitors that I am not able to prepare a Deed of Acknowledgment of Paternity because MARCELLA KELINA ALCINDOR’S mother MARIA JACOB died on the 8th day of January 2001 and is not able to intervene as required by law in the said Deed.
That my daughter MARCELLA KELINA ALCINDOR nee JACOB was married on the 30th April 1988 but is divorced which divorce was made absolute on 18th day of July 2002.
That I consented to the change of name of MARCELLA KELINA ALCINDOR nee JACOB by Deed Poll so that she can officially carry my surname.
SWORN TO BEFORE ME Leandra G. Verneul at #10 Manuel St., Castries, Saint Lucia on the 20th day of August, 2009.

Software giant Microsoft has introduced “visual search” to its Bing search engine to try to further set itself apart from market-leader Google.
The new feature will allow users to browse results using pictures instead of text.
Visual search will initially concentrate on four main areas: travel, health, leisure and shopping.
“The whole concept is that the world of search is going to change,” said Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi.
“There will be a more graphic way people will search, and it will pivot how people search,” said Mr Mehdi, the firm’s senior vice president of online services.
‘Search battle’
Microsoft unveiled the beta, or test version of the feature, at TechCrunch 50, a conference being held in San Francisco for start-ups to pitch their ideas to investors.
“Competition breeds innovation and this nice little battle between Google and Microsoft is having a huge benefit to consumers,” said investor Ron Conway, who has previously put money into Google, PayPal and AskJeeves.
Microsoft launched Bing in May and promoted it as an improvement over Google’s “10 blue links” for tasks like shopping and travel.
New figures by net analysts Nielsen said that Microsoft’s share of U.S. searches rose to 10.7% in August while Google remained dominant with 64.6%. Yahoo, in second place, was used for 16% of searches.
In late July, Microsoft and Yahoo Inc. signed an agreement to work together to better take on Google. It still has to pass anti-trust scrutiny.
At the launch, Microsoft claimed “Visual Search” allowed users to conduct certain searches faster than the “traditional image search” offered by rival Google and other search engines.
In a blog post, the company said a study it conducted found that consumers can process results with images 20% faster than text only results. “It’s like searching through a large online catalogue,” Microsoft said.
As users enter search terms, a link at the top of the first page of results allows users to “visualise” what Bing has found. Clicking on the link displays a gallery of related images.
‘Money maker’
At the moment only a small number of topics will return a visual display. These centre around popular categories like entertainment, famous people, shopping and sports.
“I think in those isolated cases it’s going to work very well and those are the areas where there is a lot of money,” Don Dodge, Microsoft’s director of business development told BBC News.
“There is a lot of advertising money for shopping, for travel and so on. So not only is it a better user experience but it’s a better business model too,” said Mr Dodge.
Even though the TechCrunch conference targets start-up companies which come to have their ideas evaluated by a panel of experts, Microsoft agreed to have the group rate its new product.
“This is a good paradigm but should be implemented in areas where the user needs images to get into what he’s looking for,” said Yossi Vardi, an angel investor known for investing in software, energy and mobile companies.
The panel was also jokingly asked if they would be interested in investing in the product and the company behind it.

Door ajar for full-strength Windies squad
West Indies could yet field a full-strength squad at the Champions Trophy, with the ICC willing to accept a “revised” line-up in the event the industrial relations dispute between the board and the players is resolved. Despite setting an August 11 deadline for national boards to nominate their 15-man squads for the Champions Trophy, the ICC has advised the WICB it would take into account the exceptional circumstances brought on by the labour dispute and allow the likes of Chris Gayle, Denesh Ramdin and Shivnarine Chanderpaul to play at the tournament. For that to happen, the WICB and the players would need to end their stand-off before West Indies’ tournament opener against Pakistan at the Wanderers Ground on September 23. The recent breakdown in mediation talks between the two parties raised fears of a damaging and protracted split, although WIPA’s announcement this week that it would accept CARICOM’s six-point resolution plan may yet mark a turning point in the labour crisis. Both the ICC and its broadcast partner, ESPN STAR Sports, have impressed upon the WICB their desire for a full-strength West Indies team to compete at the eight-team, two-week tournament in South Africa. The Champions
Chris Gayle could yet return in time for the Champions Trophy
Trophy has been criticised in the past for lacking context and prestige in an already crowded international calendar, and the ICC is hopeful the streamlined format - and the $4 million prize purse - will reinvigorate the appetite of both the players and the public for the embattled tournament and the 50-over game in general. A weakened West Indies squad is hardly in keeping with that ambition. The WICB controversially named a second-string squad for the Champions Trophy while locked in mediation talks with WIPA - a move criticised by Bharrat Jagdeo, the Guyanese president CARICOM chairman, and Sir Shridath Ramphal, the former Commonwealth secretary-general and CARICOM-appointed mediator - but an ICC source told Cricinfo hope remained that an 11th-hour settlement would allow West Indies to field their elite squad. The ICC has played a behind-the-scenes role in the WICB-WIPA dispute, although Haroon Lorgat, the council’s chief executive, would not be drawn on the specifics of their involvement. He did, however, call upon the West Indian board to restore senior players to the Champions Trophy squad; a move that would enhance the tournament’s objective of pitting the best versus the best. “We would be disappointed if the best team is not taken to South Africa, but we understand the complex situation that exists,” Lorgat told Cricinfo. “The West Indies have the unfettered right to select whomever they choose.” Any move to return their elite players to the field would present the WICB with a sizeable logistical and cost issue. The Floyd Reifer-led West Indies squad have already arrived in South Africa and played two practice matches against provincial sides. The bulk of those players would presumably be recalled to the Caribbean should the path be cleared for the Windies’ striking cricketers to return - a scenario the cash-strapped board could do without. But there is much at stake - not least the desire of ESPN Star Sports to protect its reported $1.1 billion broadcast deal with the ICC through to 2015. Manu Sawhney, ESPN Star Sport’s managing director, delivered a veiled criticism of West Indies’ current stance by stating his hope that “the unique position of the ICC Champions Trophy in the international cricket calendar will remain intact with the full participation of best available squads from all the competing teams.” “We firmly believe that the ICC Champions Trophy should be a premium international event where the best players from the top cricketing nations compete for the honours and are confident that the ICC and the cricketing community in general shares that belief,” Sawhney told Cricinfo. “As highlighted by you, lately there have been concerns regarding West Indies that have been raised in the media. As ICC’s leading commercial partners, we continually maintain a dialogue with the ICC on various aspects of our relationship. However, it is our policy not to publicly comment on such discussions. We are proud of our association with the ICC and very much value this relationship.”
