(HIV/AIDS rate of 40% HIV/AIDS infection high levels of TB) • 44% of the population is under the age of 20. The large concentration of youth putting pressure on health and education resources and there are few organized recreational activities.

SafePlace, a project under the Genesis Trust, is working to meet the need of an immediate place of safety for vulnerable people in communities around the Port
Shepstone area. Many of the people we serve are victims of abuse, gender-based
violence, rape, and sexual assault.
