GenreBased on the results from my questionnaire, I have decided to make an indie-rock music magazine. I feel that this genre is often overlooked in the media as the rock and pop culture generally dominate the industry. Therefore, I can see that there is a niche market to target, which should help the sale of my product. I also think the indie-rock genre is a good one for me to focus on personally; through the magazine analyses I got a chance to look into the codes and conventions of both genres, and therefore now know which features should and shouldn’t be used.

Target AudienceI’ve decided that my target audience will be people aged 16-19; I have most knowledge of this age group, and would be able to acquire their assistance and feedback most easily. I have also realised that the target audience for the majority of music magazines of a similar genre is predominantly male. Therefore I will be aiming my music magazine at both genders, but predominantly girls rather than boys. This caters for a niche market and ensures that my magazine has the widest possible target audience; I don’t want it to be gender-specific as it would limit the amount of readers.
