New Life Church of Powell bases its beliefs on the whole Bible rightly divided (II Timothy 2:15). We accept the Bible as God's Holy Word, inspired, inerrant, and infallible. We believe the Bible to be God's written revelation of himself to mankind and our guide in all matters of faith; therefore, we look to the Bible as our highest authority of doctrine, practice, organization, and discipline. New Life Church of Powell is firm in its commitment to orthodox Christian belief. We affirm that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in the physical miracles He performed, in His atoning death on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory at His second coming. We profess that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of man. We affirm the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling we are able to live godly lives and have power for service. We believe in the unity of believers as prayed for by our Lord Jesus Christ in John 17. We believe in the sanctity of human life, we are committed to the sanctity of the marriage bond, and recognize the importance of strong, loving, Christian families. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3:16 ESV “Further Biblical Clarification of Beliefs” 1 The Bible We believe the Bible, both Old & New Testament, to be the only inspired, infallible, and authoritative written Word of God. (II Timothy 3:14-17) 2 The Godhead We believe in one God, who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit, commonly called 'the Trinity'. (Genesis 1:26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 3:16-17, John 10:30) 3 The Person of Jesus Christ We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who came to us as fully God and fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to God the Father. We believe in his literal return to earth as King and Judge. (Luke 1:26-38, Colossians 1:13-22, I Corinthians 15:3-4, Acts 1:11) 4 Salvation Because of man's sinfulness, he is incapable of coming to salvation on his own merits or capability. We believe the only means of salvation from sin and relationship to God is through Jesus Christ. Christ made possible our salvation through His dying on the cross for our sins and His resurrection. (John 3:16, 14:6; I Corinthians 6:11; Acts 4:10-12) 5 The Holy Spirit We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Christ follower, including His infilling or baptism, which gives us power to live this Christian life, to be witnesses of Christ to the world, and to use us with His gifts and callings. We believe in the present manifestations of all the gifts of the Spirit in the life of the believer as His Spirit wills, and that these gifts did not cease with the passing of the first century church. (Matthew 3:11; Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, 4:31, 10:44-48, 19:1-6; I Corinthians 12:4-11, 14:1; Ephesians 4:18, Romans 12:4-8)
