Two possible methods of appointment MOST COMMON: The SREC Members appoint ONE delegate

from their senatorial district If both SREC Members agree on the same appointment that is who the

State Chair must appoint.

If they members disagree the State Chair must choose between the two recommendations.

Submits names that are ineligible or unwilling to serve

If a Senatorial District lies solely within one county the SD Convention can submit in writing a resolution passed by the convention requesting the State Chair appoint the Permanent Chair of the last Senatorial District convention if that person is eligible and willing to serve.

Official Party Platform

SREC will recommend the final vote on the floor be taken on each individual platform plank after deliberations cease.

This represents a change from previous years, where the vote was taken on the floor for the entire document at once.

The final ratified document will be the Platform for the Republican Party of Texas until the next State Convention.

Page 38: State Convention Training · State Nominations First Meeting: After the second SD Caucus Nominates the State Chair & Vice Chair to the Convention Body Candidate Nominated by the Committee

Adopting the Platform

Debate will occur

Once the Question is Called (Previous Question) all debate will cease and the body will vote to either continue or end debate.

The body ends debate we will move immediately into Plank – by – Plank voting.

Alternates will be seated as delegates before voting begins.

Ballots will be passed out to all those entitled to vote.

Voting will proceed plank by plank.

Once all planks have been voted on the ballots will be collected.

The ballots will then be counted and the final platform created based on the results.

Harris or Dallas counties.

Candidates from larger metropolitan counties are

funded on a limited basis in conjunction with the overall

strategy set by the RPT.

Candidate Resource Committee

Candidates applying for CRC funding submit a

written application.

Each applicant must get his/her county chair and/or

one of his/her SREC members to send in a separate, confidential

referral form.

The candidates are then vetted by the CRC at its biannual distribution

meeting.

The candidates who received CRC support won

at a 67% rate in 2014.
