    Reservation for PWD / XS / DXS is horizontal reservation and included in the vacancies of variouscategories. PWD candidates applying for the post of Peons in States where vacancies are notreserved for them will be eligible for upper age relaxation as available to PWD candidates.

    Similarly XS candidates applying for the posts in States, where vacancies are not reserved for themwill be eligible for age relaxation applicable to their parent category (SC/ST/OBC) only.

    Abbreviations stands for: Gen - General Category; SC - Scheduled Caste, ST -Scheduled Tribe; OBC - Other Backward Classes; PWD - Person with Disability; HI Hearing Impaired, VI-Visually Impaired, OH-Orthopaedically Handicapped; EXS-Ex-Serviceman, DXS - Disabled Ex-Servicemen.

    The above vacancies are provisional and mayvary acco rd ing to the actual requirement of theBank at the material time. Merit list will be drawnup State-wise/District-wise.The salient features are given below:

    2. Emoluments: Selected candidates will bepaid emoluments as applicable toSubordinate Cadre Staff under variousRules/Awards/Settlement in force in theemployer Bank from time to time.

    3. Educational Qualification (as on01.01.2013)

    (i) 10th Standard Pass. But should not havepassed Class XII or equivalent(ii) Ex-serviceman, who have passed/obtained the Indian Army matriculationCertificate or corresponding certificateequivalent to 10th Standard in the Navy or

    Air Force, after having completed not lessthan 15 years of service in Armed Forces ason 01.01.2013 of the Indian Union are alsoeligible for the post. Such candidates should

    pass the language test from the concernedstates. Certificates should be dated on or before01-01-2013.

    4.Other Qualification:(i) Knowledge of read and write in local

    language is essential

    5. Age: (As on 01.01.2013)(i) Minimum Age : 18 years ; MaximumAge:26 years (as on 01.01.2013). Candidatesborn not earlier than 02.01.1987 and notlater than 01.01.1995, both days inclusiveare only eligible to apply.

    (ii) The upper age limit will be relaxed asunder :

    6.Affidavit:A Notarized affidavit to theextentthat the candidate does not possess theeducational qualification of XII or above shouldbe produced at the time of interview.

    7. Definition:

    Ex-Serviceman : Only those candidates shall betreated as Ex-Serviceman who fulfill the reviseddefinition as laid down in Government ofIndia, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department ofPersonnel and Administrative ReformsNotification No.36034/5/85/ Estt (SCT) dated 27thOctober, 1986 as amended from time to time.

    Disabled Ex-servicemen: Ex-servicemen whowhile serving in Armed forces of the Uniondisabled in operation against the enemy or indisturbed areas shall be treated as Disabled ex-servicemen.

    Dependents of Serviceman killed in Action :Servicemen killed in the following operations wouldbe deemed to have been killed in actionattributable to Military Service (a) war (b) war likeoperations or border skirmishes either withPakistan on cease fire line or any other country (c)Fighting against armed hostiles in a counterinsurgency environment viz. Nagaland, Mizoram,etc. (d) Serving with peace-keeping missionabroad (e) Laying or clearance of mines includingenemy mines as also mine sweeping operationbetween one month before and three monthsafter conclusion of an operation (f) Frost-biteduring actual operations or during the periodspecified by the Government (g) Dealing withagitating Para-Military forces personnel (h) IPKFpersonnel killed during the operations in Sri

    Lanka.

    Note:

    1) Candidates, who are released / retired fromArmed Forces, are required t o submi t t he i ro r i g i n a l d i s c ha r g e c e r t i f i c a t e a t t h e t i meo f v e r i f i c a t i o n .

    2) The Territorial Army Personnel will be treatedas Ex-Serviceman w.e.f. 15.11.1986.

    3) An Ex-Serviceman who has once joined aGovernment job on the civil side after availing ofthe benefits given to him as an Ex-Serviceman forhis re-employment, his Ex- Serviceman status forthe purpose of re-employment in Governmentceases.

    4) Dependents of Servicemen killed in actionare eligible for reservation. 2. 25% of the totalvacancies are reserved for dependents ofServicemen killed in action. For the purpose ofthis concession, the member of the family wouldinclude his widow, son, daughter or his nearrelations who agree to support his family. Therelaxation in upper age and educationalqualifications available to Ex-Serviceman/Disabled Ex-Serviceman will not be available to Dependentsof Servicemen killed in action.

    8. Reservation for Persons with Disability(PWD):

    Vacancies are reserved for Disabled (PhysicallyChallenged) Persons under Section 33 of thePersons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities,Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act,1995 (1 of 1996) as per governmentguidelines. Candidates with following disabilities

    are eligible to apply as per the definitions given inthe above act:

    a) O A - O n e a r m a f f e c t e d ( b ) O L - O n el e g a f f e c t e d ( c ) B - B l i n d ( d ) L V - L o wv i s i o n ( e ) H H - H e a r i n g H a n d i c a p p e d .Only such persons would be eligible forreservation in services/ posts who suffer from notless than 40% of relevant disability. A personwho wants to avail the benefit of reservationwill have to submit a Disability Certificate issuedby Medical Board duly constituted by Central orState Government. The certificate should bedated on or before last date ofregistration of application i.e. 03-10-2013

    Blind candidates/low vision candidates, whose

    writing speed is affected can use own scribe attheir cost during the written examination. In allsuch cases the following rules will apply.

    (1) The candidate will have to arrange his/her ownscribe at his/her cost.

    (2) Both the candidate and the scribe have to givea suitable under taking with the photograph ofthe scribe and confirm that the scribe fulfils all thestipulated eligibility criteria. In case it latertranspires that he/she fulfill the any of the criteriaor suppressed any facts, the candidature of theapplicant will stand cancelled, irrespective of theresult of the test.

    9. Probation period: The newly appointed

    employees will be on probation for a minimumperiod of 6 months. Before the probation periodcomes to an end, the performance of the newlyrecruited employees will be evaluated and theprobation period of those employees whoseperformance fails to meet Banks expectation,may be extended/terminated.

    11.Selection Procedure: All eligible candidates should apply on-

    line before the last date forregistration ofapplication.

    The written test will be of Objectivetype consisting of (i) Mental Ability &Simple Arithmetic (ii) General

    A w a r e n e s s & C u r r e n tA f f a i r s ( i i i) English Language. Thequestions in objective tests, except for

    the test of General English, will beprinted bilingual i.e., English & Hindi.

    There will be negative marks forwrong answers in the Objectivetests. Candidates will have to pass ineach of the objective tests.

    The passing marks in each of the tests willbe decided by the Bank on the basis of the

    performance of all the competingcandidates takentogether in each test toa minimum required level. Candidatesare also required to score a minimumpercentage marks on aggregate to beconsidered for interview. ForSC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates, 5%relaxation is available thereon. Minimumpercentage marks on aggregate will bedecided by the bank.

    Final selection will be made on the basisof performance in the written test andinterview taken together. Merelysatisfying the eligibility norms does notentitle a candidate to be called forinterview.

    Selection will be made district wiseon the basis of merit among thecandidates of the same district.

    Other detailed information regardingthe written examination will bemade available in the Bankwebsite.

    Interviews : Depending upon thenumber of vacancies only certainnumber of candidates from amongstthose who qualify by ranking highenough in the merit will be called forinterview in the ratio of maximum 3candidates for each vacancy.Candidates are required to score aminimum percentage marks (to bedecided by the bank) in interview to be

    considered for final selection. 5%relaxation for SC/ST/ OBC/PWD/XScategory will be available thereon. Finalselection will be made on the basis ofcandidates performance in the writtentest and interview taken together.

    12.Date of written examination: 24-11-2013 [SUNDAY]

    Bank reserves the right to change the date ofexamination. Bankmay conduct the examinationon more than two dates, if need be.

    14 B. The Bank may arrange pre-examination trainingat Thiruvananthapuram for SC/ST/OBC candidates inconsonance with the guidelines issued by Government ofIndia. Candidates belonging to the above categories whodesire to avail themselves of such training at their owncost may indicate to that effect while registering theapplication form. Candidates opting for pre-examinationtraining can download their Call Letters for training byentering his/her registration number and password/dateof birth.

    15. All expenses regarding travelling, boarding, lodgingetc. will be borne by the candidates for attending thePre-Examination Training programme at the concernedPre-Examination Training Centre.

    16. HOW TO APPLY: GUIDELINES FOR FILLINGONLINE APPLICATION: Candidates should have validemail ID. This will help him/her in getting callletter/interview advices etc. by e-mail.

    OPTION : PAYMENT OF FEE (OFFLINE/ONLINE):Option-I Offline.

    (i) Candidates should first scan their photograph and

    signature as detailed under guidelines for scanning thephotograph and signature.

    (ii) Candidates to visit Bank's websitewww.statebankoftravancore.com and open theappropriate Online Application Format given under

    Recruitment Link.

    (iii) Candidates are advised to fill the applicationcarefully. In the event of the candidate not able to fillthe data in one go, he can save the data alreadyentered. When the data is saved, a provisionalregistration number and password will be generated bythe system and displayed on the screen. Candidateshould note down the registration number andpassword. They can reopen the saved data usingregistration number and password and edit theparticulars, if needed. This facility will be available forthree times only. Once the application is filled complete,candidate should submit the data. Candidates to take aprintout of the system generated fee payment challanimmediately. No change/edit will be allowed thereafter.The registration at this stage is provisional.

    (iv) Fee Payment: Fee payment will be accepted from2nd working day after registration and can be made

    within three working days at any branch of State Bank ofTravancore. System generated fee payment challan willbe used for depositing fee. Once fee is paid, theregistration process is completed.

    (v) Candidate will receive registration confirmation bySMS/e-mail after THREE working days from the date ofpayment of fees. Candidate must ensure to furnishcorrect Mobile number / e-mail address to receive theregistration confirmation.

    (vi) Three days after fee payment candidate will alsohave a provision to reprint the submitted applicationcontaining fee details. The printout of the applicationand fee receipt should be retained with the candidate. Itwill have to be submitted at the time of interview, ifcalled.

    Option-II: Online payment

    1.Candidates must follow steps i) to iii) given underOption-I above.

    2.After ensuring the correctness of the particulars of theapplication form candidates are required to pay feesthrough the payment gateway integrated with theapplication, following the instructions available on thescreen. No change/edit will be allowed thereafter.

    3.The payment can be made using MASTER/VISAdebit/credit cards or internet Banking by providinginformation as asked on the screen. Transaction chargesfor online payment will be borne by the candidate.

    4.On successful completion of the transaction, e-receiptand application form will be generated, which may beprinted for record.

    5.If the online transaction is not successfully completed ,the candidate will be required to register again and makepayment online.

    The candidates are not required to send theapplication form to the Bank.

    16(a). GUIDELINES FOR SCANNING THEPHOTOGRAPH & SIGNATURE

    Before applying online a candidate will be required tohave a scanned (digital) image of his/her photographand signature as per the specifications given in

    Annexure-I.

    17. Your Online Application will not be registeredunless you upload your photo and signature asspecified.

    Note :

    a. In case the face in the photograph or signature isunclear the candidates application may be rejected.

    b.Candidates are advised to take a printout of theirsystem generated online application forms aftersubmitting.

    c.In case the photograph or signature is unclear, thecandidate may edit his application and reupload hisphotograph or signature. However, edit facility will berestricted to 3 times only as mentioned earlier.

    d. Candidates should keep a copy of the Applicationprintout and Fee Receipt for their record.

    e. The candidates must bring the call letter along withphoto identity proof such as passport /PAN Card/Driving

    Licence/Voter's Card/Unique Identification Card(AADHAR)/ Bank Passbook with duly attestedPhotograph/Identity Card issued by School or College/Gazetted Officer in ORIGINAL as well as a self attestedPhotocopy thereof. The photocopy of Identity proofshould be submitted along with call letter to theinvigilators in the examination hall, failing which he/shewill NOT be permitted to appear for the test.

    18. Action against candidates found guilty ofconduct.

    Candidates are warned that they should not furnish anyparticulars that are false, tampered/ fabricated or shouldnot suppress any material information while filling up theapplication form.

    At the time of written examination/interview, if acandidate is (or has been) found guilty of: (i) usingunfair means during the examination or (ii)impersonating or procuring impersonation by any personor (iii) misbehaving in the examination hall or takingaway the question booklet (or any part thereof)/answersheet from the examination hall or (iv) resorting to any

    irregular or improper means in connection with his/hercandidature for selection or (v) obtaining support forhis/her candidature by any unfair means, such acandidate may, in addition to rendering himself/herselfliable to criminal prosecution, be liable: a) to bedisqualified from the examination for which he/she is acandidate b)to be debarred, either permanently or for aspecified period, from any examination or recruitmentconducted by State Bank of Travancore.

    NOTE: The Bank would be analysing the responses of acandidate with other appeared candidates to detectpatterns of similarity. On the basis of such an analysis, ifit is found that the responses have been shared andscores obtained are not genuine/valid, the Bank reservesthe right to cancel his/her candidature.

    19. General Information: (i) While applying on-linefor the post, the applicant should ensure that he / shefulfils the eligibility and other norms mentioned above ason the specified dates and that the particulars furnishedby him / her are correct in all respects. IN CASE IT ISDETECTED AT ANY STAGE OF RECRUITMENT THAT ACANDIDATE DOES NOT FULFIL THE ELIGIBILITYNORMS AND / OR THAT HE / SHE HAS FURNISHED ANYINCORRECT / FALSE INFORMATION OR HASSUPPRESSED ANY MATERIAL FACT(S), HIS / HERCANDIDATURE WILL STAND CANCELLED. IF ANY OFTHESE SHORTCOMINGS IS / ARE DETECTED EVEN

    AFTER APPOINTMENT, HIS / HER SERVICES ARE LIABLETO BE TERMINATED.

    (ii)Candidates are advised in their own interest to applyonline much before the closing date and not to wait tillthe last date for depositing the fee to avoid thepossibility of disconnection/inability/failure to log on tothe website on account of heavy load on internet orwebsite jam.

    (iii)SBT does not assume any responsibility for thecandidates not being able to submit their applicationswithin the last date on account of aforesaid reasons orfor any other reason beyond the control of SBT.

    (iv)Applicants are advised to register online themselves.

    (v)The selection of the candidates will be on the basis ofwritten test and interviews.

    The Bank reserves the right to hold any other testwherever deemed necessary as well as the right to add,delete or allot any centre at its discretion.

    (vi)Admission to written test examination will be purelyprovisional without verification of age / qualification /category (SC/ST/PWD/XS) etc. of the candidates withreferences to documents.

    (vii)Documents relating to Age/Qualification/Categoryetc. will have to be submitted at the time of interview bythe candidates called for interview. Caste certificate bycandidate seeking reservation as SC/ST/OBC in theprescribed proforma from the competent authorityindicating clearly the candidates caste, the Act/Orderunder which the caste is recognized as SC/ST/OBC andthe village/town the candidate is originally a resident of.

    (viii)A declaration in the prescribed format by candidateseeking reservation as OBC, that he/she does not belongto the creamy layer as on 31-03-2013 (date). The OBCcertificate containing the non-creamy clause should beissued during the period 01.04.2012 to 31.03.2013.

    (ix) Candidates serving in Government/QuasiGovernment offices, Public Sector undertaking includingNationalised Banks and financial Institutions will berequired to submit 'No Objection Certificate' from theiremployer at the time of interview, failing which theircandidature may not be considered and travelingexpenses, if any, otherwise admissible, will not be paid.

    (x)No candidate is permitted to use or have possessionof Calculators, Mobile Phones, Pagers or any other

    instrument in the Examination Hall.

    (xi)The candidate will have option to answer written testquestions in Hindi or English except in General Englishpaper .

    (xii)The candidates will have to appear for the tests/interviews, at their own cost. SC/ ST/ PWD candidatescalled for INTERVIEW are entitled to IInd class to & frorailway fare/ bus fare by shortest route on production ofevidence of travel (Rail / bus ticket/ receipt etc).

    (xiii) Appointment of selected candidates is subject totheir being found medically fit as per the requirement ofthe Bank. Such appointment will also be subject to theservice and conduct rules of the Bank.

    (xiv) The new recruits has to perform duties of peonsinside and outside Bank premises. The duties involveextensive outdoor traveling. Depending uponrequirement, there will be flexible working hours andworking in shifts.

    (xv) DECISIONS OF THE BANK IN ALL MATTERSREGARDING ELIGIBILITY, CONDUCT OF WRITTENEXAMINATION, OTHER TESTS, INTERVIEW, SELECTIONWOULD BE FINAL AND BINDING ON ALL CANDIDATES.

    NO REPRESENTATION OR CORRESPONDENCE WILL BEENTERTAINED BY THE BANK IN THIS REGARD.

    (xvi) Any legal proceedings in respect of any matter ofclaim or dispute arising out of this advertisement and /or an application in response thereto can be institutedonly in Thiruvananthapuram and courts / tribunals /forums at Thiruvananthapuram only shall have sole and

    exclusive jurisdiction to try any cause / dispute.

    (xvii)Selected candidates will be governed by the termsand conditions of the Service Conditions of SBT in forceat the time of joining.

    Candidates before entering examination premisesare likely to be frisked to ensure compliance withfollowings

    (a) Mobile phones, pagers or any other communicationdevices are not allowed inside the premises where theexamination is being conducted. Any infringement of

    these instructions shall entail cancellation of candidatureand disciplinary action including ban from futureexaminations.

    (b)Candidates are advised in their own interest not tobring any of the banned item including mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangementfor safekeeping cannot be assured.
