• Have a plan• Make sure you know what you will be using and if you will be

drawing anything specific before you start.• You only have a little bit of time before the ink dries on you and you

can no longer make a print.

Step 2

• Put the ink on the plate.

• Place leaves, grass, or anything flat onto your plate with ink on it.

• This is also the time to draw into the ink if you would like it to have a drawing as well.

Step 4

• Lay the plate on the printing press ink side up.

• Put the paper on top of the plate very carefully so it does not smudge anything.

• Lay the felt over top of the paper to keep it in place.

• Run through the printing press.

Step 5

• Once through the press carefully lift up the felt.

• Thank carefully lift up the paper from one side to see your print.

• Remove plate and clean for next print.

The assignment

• Decide quickly if you want to test out a drawing.• If you do a drawing it needs to be a fast one.• These are just test prints the real thing comes later so have

fun.

• Ink your plate and begin.

• As soon as you are done come over to the printing presses and I will help you begin.

• Once done clean your plate, put your print up to dry, pick up your thumbnail sketch worksheet and begin brainstorming ideas for your final Monoprint.

• One print will be due at the end of class for each student.
