M. 26001-S: Firecracker Bouquet – Burnished Gold• Cut six 3” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut two 3” x 56 ½” strips and two 3” x 48 ½” strips.

N. 26004-G: Star Paisley – Olive• Cut six 2” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut two 2” x 56 ½” strips and two 2” x 48 ½” strips.

Backing 26000-E: Star and Circle Toss – Parchment• Cut two 72” x WOF strips. Sew together and trim to make one 72” x 80” back.

Place one 2 ½” Fabric B square on the left side of one 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric C strip, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

Place another 2 ½” Fabric B square on the right side of the 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric C strip, right sides together (Fig. 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 4). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to create one Unit 1. Repeat to make four Unit 1’s total.

Repeat Steps 1-2 using eight 4 ½” Fabric C squares and four 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric D strips to make four Unit 2’s total (Fig. 5).

Sew one 2 ½” x WOF Fabric K strip to one 2 ½” x WOF Fabric I strip lengthwise to make one KI strip set. Repeat to make a second KI strip set (Fig. 6).

From the two KI strip sets, cut thirty-two 2 ½” x 4 ½” KI units (Fig. 7).

Sew one 2 ½” x WOF Fabric I strip to one 2 ½” x WOF Fabric L strip lengthwise to make one IL strip set. Repeat to make a second IL strip set (Fig. 8).

From the two IL strip sets, cut thirty-two 2 ½” x 4 ½” IL units (Fig. 9).

Sew one Unit 1 to each side of one 4 ½” Fabric A square to make Unit Four middle row. Sew one 2 ½” Fabric C square to each end of one Unit 1 to create one Unit 4 Top Border. Repeat to make the Unit 4 Bottom Border. Sew the Unit 4 Borders to the middle row to make one Unit 4 (Fig. 11).

Sew one Unit 2 to each side of the Unit 4 to make the middle row. Sew one Unit 3 to each end of one Unit 2 to create one Unit 5 Top Border. Repeat to make the Unit 5 Bottom Border. Sew the Unit 5 Borders to the middle row to create one Unit 5 (Fig. 12).

Sew one 4 ½” x 16 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of the Unit 5 to make the middle row. Sew one Unit 3 to each end of one 4 ½” x 16 ½” Fabric D strip to create one Block One Top Border. Repeat to make the Unit 5 Bottom Border. Sew the Block One Borders to the middle row to create one Block One (Fig. 13).

Sew one Unit 3 to the left side of one 4 ½” Fabric J square to create one Block Two Top Strip. Sew one Unit 3 to the right side of one 4 ½” Fabric J square to create one Block Two Bottom Strip. Sew one Block Two Top Strip to the top of one Block Two Bottom Strip to create one Block Two. Repeat to make four Block Two squares total (Fig. 14).

Repeat Steps 1-2 using eighty 2 ½” Fabric F squares and forty 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric D strips to make forty FDF strips (Fig. 15).

Sew one FDF strip to each side of one 4 ½” Fabric E square to make the middle row. Sew one 2 ½” Fabric D square to each end of one FDF strip to create one DFD strip. Repeat to make a second DFD strip. Sew one DFD strip to the top and to the bottom of the middle row to make one Block Three. Repeat to make ten Block Three squares total (Fig. 16).

Repeat Steps 1-2 using sixty-four 2 ½” Fabric H squares and thirty-two 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric D strips to make thirty-two HDH strips (Fig. 17).

Block Fourmake 8Sew one HDH strip to each side of one 4 ½”

Fabric G square to make the middle row. Sew one 2 ½” Fabric D square to each end of one HDH strip to create one DHD strip. Repeat to make a second DHD strip. Sew one DHD strip to the top and to the bottom of the middle row to make one Block Four. Repeat to make eight Block Four squares total (Fig. 18).

Sew one Block Four to the top and to the bottom of one Block Three to make one Side Border Strip. Repeat to make a second Side Border Strip. Sew one 4 ½” x 24 ½” Fabric D strip to the right side of one Side Border Strip to create one Left Side Border. Sew one 4 ½” x 24 ½” Fabric D strip to the left side of one Side Border Strip to create one Right Side Border. Sew the Side Borders to the Block One to create the Center Block.

Sew one Unit 3 to the top of a second Unit 3 to create a Unit 3 Strip. Repeat to make a second Unit 3 Strip. Sew one Block Three, one Unit 3 Strip, one 8 ½” x 24 ½” Fabric D strip, one Unit 3 Strip and one Block Three together in that order to create the Top Border. Repeat to make the Bottom Border. Sew the Borders to the Center Block.

Sew one Block Two, one Block Three, two Block Fours one Block Three and one Block Two together in that order to create one Border Unit. Repeat to make a second Border Unit. Sew one Border Unit to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

Sew one 2” x 56 ½” Fabric N strip to one 3” x 56 ½” Fabric M strip lengthwise to make one Inner Side Border. Repeat to make a second Inner Side Border. Sew one Inner Side Borders to each side of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

Sew one 2” x 48 ½” Fabric N strip to one 3” x 48 ½” Fabric M strip lengthwise to make one NM Strip. Sew one Unit 3 to each end of the NM Strip to make one Inner Top Border. Repeat to make the Inner Bottom Border. Sew the Inner Borders to the quilt top.

Sew one 4 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric H strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew one Unit 3 to each end of one 4 ½” x 56 ½” Fabric H strip to make the Outer Top Border. Repeat to make the Outer Bottom Border. Sew the Outer Borders to the Center Block to make the quilt top.

Sew the seven 2 ½ x WOF Fabric F strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half, lengthwise with wrong sides together, and press.
