Back by popular demand this summer: Montalvo’s nighttime summer arts festival inspired by mankind’s abiding fascination with the skies and beyond. Starry, Starry Night celebrates STEAM-based learning, brings the community together, and reaffirms Montalvo’s commitment to engage the public in the creative process. We anticipate 300+ guests at this event. Montalvo’s Education Department has crafted a schedule full of imaginative interdisciplinary activities appropriate for the whole family: Cosmic Art-Making Activites A Make and install your own glow-in-the dark constellation installation A Design a space colony or intergalactic rocket A Paint and draw your own imaginative nighttime scenes, inspired by famous works by artists like Van Gogh, Hopper, Magritte and more! Astronomy Education A Stargaze with telescopes installed on the Great Lawn A Learn about constellations at the pop-up planetarium installed in the historic Villa, providing astronomy shows throughout the evening A See artwork created by students during the week’s Summer Camps Imagination Sparked by the Skies A Be transported by star-inspired poetry and storytelling A Come away on a contemplative night hike across the property A Enjoy a nighttime screening of family-friendly films from outer space! A Night Spent Under the Stars A If you like, you and your family spend the night out on the Great Lawn and wake up to a delicious pancake breakfast (note: tents permited without stakes, and staying over night is optional) Starry, Starry Night An Art + Astronomy Festival interstellar art activities Thursday, June 22, 6pm - Friday, June 23, 8am pop-up planetarium fun for the whole family!
