Starbucks in South AfricaEvetteWomen’s Business Leadership Part 1Professor Frey12 July 2010
Intro
My name is Evette and I am from South Africa. I love Starbucks! Since the of 16 I’ve always wanted to own my own coffee shop. I feel that because Starbucks is a world know brand that it could be successful.
Business IdeaStarbucks is a global franchise. The only place that it hasn’t made it to is South Africa, YET! It does so well around the world and I feel that it will succeed in South Africa. I would like to open this franchise in Cape Town as I know that there are a lot of tourists attracted to the area.
Target Customer
My business is targeted to serve anyone who likes coffee. The area is Cape Town and if it is successful I am hoping it will spread around the country.
Supporting Research
80% of the people I interviewed, were excited and enthusiastic about the idea.
I would be able to attract more people by having special offers and discounts.
Financials
$6 for a cup of coffee
Keeping in mind that the products needed for the different drinks are not made in South Africa, the prices will be higher. As in needs to be imported.
Actions
I am currently studying Hotel Management and Business Leadership. I am hoping to open this coffee shop in 2011. I will write a business plan and send it to all who are able to help financially, including banks. In the meantime I have written to Starbucks Head Office and I am waiting for their reply.
Continuous Learning
I will rely on mentors that have knowledge in this field.
Conclusion
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
