SPRING LITTER PICK — 9 MARCH 2019
AT 10.30 AM
It’s that time of year again. Spring is coming and we
are ready for our annual litter pick. It will take place on
9 March at 10.30 am starting from the Village Hall in
Stanton and by the Parish Council notice board in High
Hatton. This has been a really well attended event in
previous years and your help will be very much appreci-
ated this year.
All equipment will be provided. Just bring yourself and
as many family members and friends that you can!
HIGH HATTON COMMUNITY DEFIBRILLATOR
The Parish Council have recently purchased and in-
stalled a Defibrillator in High Hatton.
It is situated 30 metres up from the junction adjacent
to the lamp post and diagonally opposite to the new
barn conversions.
The Defibrillator is registered with the
West Midlands Ambulance Service. In
the unlikely event that you need the use
of the Defib, call 999. Tell them where
you are and give the ID number that is
displayed on the Defib box. They will then
give you the code number to access the
box and any instructions you need.
Training is currently being organised and
we will update you as the date is set.
Birthday Party
On Saturday 26 January two lovely Stanton ladies, Elsie and Mary along with some of their friends and family were invited to the village hall to celebrate their 90th birthdays during January. They enjoyed an afternoon tea supplied by a team of volunteers….the responses from all was that they both
had a memorable day.

News from St Andrew’s — LENT—Lent starts on Ash Wednesday (6 March) and, whenever people ask me what I’m giving up for
Lent, my favorite reply is “Oh, same as last year—paragliding, potholing and crocodile wrangling!” It makes people smile, but it
also raises an important point. Christians have traditionally given up something for Lent as a reminder of two things: firstly, that
Jesus fasted and was tested in the wilderness for forty days (Matthew 4:1-11) and secondly, that He also was willing to give up
his life on the cross, in order to redeem us and bring us into new relationship with God the Father. My humorous response
makes clear that I’ve chosen things that are easy to give up. But Jesus opted to take the hard path, so that we might experience
that joy of eternal life. We’ll be reflecting on that at St Andrew’s during Lent—do feel free to join us.
May God’s blessing rest upon you. Rich

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The AGM for the Village Hall will take place in the Village Hall on 9 April at 7.00 pm and after there will be a committee meeting. We are really in desperate need of new committee members with new ideas and enthusiasm, so please come along and see what goes on and see what you are able to offer. COFFEE MORNING —As mentioned in the last news letter, there will be a coffee morning in the Hall on Saturday 23 March 1030 to 1200 noon. It will be the usual format, cakes and produce for sale, a raffle and of course, tea and coffee. Donations of cakes and raffle prizes are always very welcome. We will look forward to seeing lots of friends and neighbours on that morning. STANTON WALKS—Another reminder that Chris Floyd leads a fortnightly walk (weather permitting) leaving from the pub at 2pm. The next planned walk is Tuesday 5th March.
