• ST: ANDREW’S DAY IS CELEBRATED EACH YEAR ON NOVEMBER THE 30 TH.

• ST. ANDREW IS THE PATRON SAINT OF SCOTLAND AS WELL AS OTHER COUNTRIES INCLUDING GREECE AND RUSSIA.

ACCORDING TO A LEGEND, A MONK, CALLED REGULUS, BROUGHT RELICS OF ST. ANDREW TO SCOTLAND, WHERE HE BUILT A CHURCH. THE CATHEDRAL BECAME A PLACE OF RELIGIOUS PILGRIMAGE.

THE SCOTTISH FLAG, THE “SALTIRE”, IS BASEDON THE X-SHAPED CROSS ON WHICH ST. ANDREW WAS CRUCIFIED ON 30 NOVEMBER 60 AD.

• ON ST. ANDREW’S DAY SCHOOLS ACROSS SCOTLAND HOLD SPECIAL ACTIVITIES.

• WE, TOO, WOULD LIKE TO CELEBRATE THIS DAY AND LET YOU KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT SCOTLAND, CALLED CALEDONIA BY THE ROMANS.

• A FAMOUS LOCH IS LOCH NESS, WHERE A LEGENDARY MONSTER CALLED NESSIE LIVES.

• SCOTLAND IS FAMOUS FOR ITS HISTORIC CASTLES.

• GLAMIS CASTLE IS ONE OF THESE. IT’S FAMOUS FOR A GHOST WITH A LONG BLACK BEARD WHO PLAYS CARDS WITH THE DEVIL IN A SECRET ROOM OF THE CASTLE.
