By Mike Salbato Trinidad State Grand Junction Central standout joining Lady Trojans Trinidad State Junior College Softball Coach Steve Swazo is proud to announce the signing of Megan Cosslett, a corner-infielder for the 2015-16 softball season. Cosslett will bring some additional power to the line-up and will battle for that vacant third base position. This past year, she hit .413 with 31 hits, 32 RBIs and 6 homeruns. “Megan comes from a very athletic family,” Swazo said. “Her sister was a stand- out player at Otero and we are very excited that Megan chose Trinidad State. I happened to catch some of her summer games and then also at the state tourna- ment. I was very impressed with her demeanor on and off the field.” During this past senior year, Cosslett was a second team All-Conference selec- tion and also 2014 Academic All-State Honorable Mention. Last year, the Trinidad Triggers and Les Bouca- niers of LaRochelle, France, formed a partnership in which the Triggers would send players to the French team, which plays in France’s second highest league. In 2014, that player was former Trigger and Pupfish, Richie Serritella, who ended up winning the French league’s “Hitter of the Year” award. Loftin played all of 2012 and half of 2013 for the Triggers. He played the other half of 2013 and all of 2014 for the Taos Blizzard. He has a lifetime batting av- erage of .299 in the Pecos League. He is also a graduate of the 2012 Pecos Spring League. Former Triggers’ manager and cur- rent Pecos League consulatant, JD Droddy, who works with Les Bouca- niers’ General Manager, Pascal Reg- nier, to provide players for the French team had this to say about Serritella and Loftin, “Richie did a great job in France and led the league in nearly ev- ery hitting category except home runs. I’m confident that Alex will also make a big splash in the league. Both of them did a great job for the Triggers and it is a pleasure to help them get this oppor- tunity in France.” Loftin’s contract with Les Bouca- niers runs from mid-March to mid-Oc- tober.
