Measures of Success

Market Access Impact

Clear information on U.S. approaches to standards and conformance on StandardsPortal has been used as a tool to encourage transparency, reliance on private sector solutions (as opposed to top-down regulation), and other “best practices” in China, India and beyond.

In 2008, China proposed a policy that would limit “foreign” (non-Chinese) companies’ voting rights on Chinese National standards development. StandardsPortal was used to demonstrate high degree of openness of standards development in the U.S., and helped to encourage China not to revise this problematic policy.

Usage

Users average 5-10 pages viewed per visit

Over 150 users have signed up on StandardsPortal to indicate that they would like additional information and to receive updates on future expansion efforts

Moving ahead, ANSI will work with partner “multiplier” organizations (e.g. U.S. Chamber, Foreign Commercial Service, etc.) to increase visibility of StandardsPortal – particularly among SME’s.
