MARITIMES REGION Explanation of variations -- Integrated Technical Services: (Marine and Civil Infrastructure)

Surveyor

Principal services provided by ITS on behalf of CCG include verification of buoy placements carried out by contractors, placement or replacement of lights and ranges, and locating boundaries for Category 4 & 5 sites. The Group also maintains real property and photographic information for real property under the custodial responsibility of CCG and DFO. One of the key responsibilities of these positions is to verify the work of the contractors concerning the placement of buoys.

Marine Electronics Workshop / Bedford Institute of Oceanography

The Marine Electronics Workshop is located at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO) in Dartmouth. It provides electronic installation, maintenance and technical support for the three major scientific vessels based at BIO. The anomaly exists only in the way funding for salaries, overtime and O&M are provided via a Day 2 transfer from Science based on an annual regional SLA with ITS.

Remaining work -- Integrated Technical Services: The remaining work includes:

1. Reviewing and establishing long-term business cases for the Regional functional variations that exist; 2. Updating the regional organization as a result of the Vessel Maintenance Management Report recommendations and associated

actions; 3. Updating the regional organization following work that is being conducted to look at the long term requirements for all

4. Updating the regional organization following work that will be conducted to look at workload at the working level; and 5. Further definition of the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) functions under the Technical Management Services Division as the

Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) elements are further defined in terms of processes, business rules, procedures and discussions with DFO.

********************************************************************************************************** Explanation of variations – Maritime Services:

Director OIC and staff at Canso Canal – only region where CCG has responsibility to manage and operate a Canal Aids to Navigation Supervisor, Aids similar to the C&A Model due to the bases in the region. Lightkeepers: Regional variation to deal with the staffed lighthouses in the region.

SAR SAR System Support Officer – the primary function of this position is system support such as addressing system failures,

equipment, upgrades, training of new staff, etc. SAR Support Officer – these are to assist in the workload in the JRCC for the East Coast. Also acts as assistant

coordinators to the full SAR Mission Coordinators

1. Icebreaking Superintendent: As part of the Strategic Program Framework development for the program, the program mandate, expectations for the Icebreaking Program will be reviewed and from there Key Activities and work descriptions will be developed.

2. Waterways Superintendent: Similar to Icebreaking further clarification will come as MS works through the Strategic Program
