Transfemoral Solutions

There are numerous factors to consider in the design and fitting process of a transfemoral amputee. There are ever increasing choices to be made regarding interface materials, suspension methods, knee and feet combinations, and now the introduction to CADCAM technology in everyday practise. This 2 day course is aimed at strengthening the breadth of knowledge obtained in formal university educa-tion. Participants will undertake a combination of theoretical lectures, manufacturing processes, and clini-cal fittings under the guidance of Otto Bock trained clinicians.

Seminar ObjectiveWith the assistance of the instructor, you will perform customised transfemoral fittings of both a CADCAM and hand cast sockets, whilst also participating in theoretical presentations and discussions.

You will learn and improve your skills regarding• Reviewing anatomy and biomechanics of transfemoral gait • Indications and application techniques of different prosthetic systems• Plaster casting and modification techniques of an ischial containment socket• Introduction to TF Design – a CADCAM system including measurement, modification and fit• Manufacturing techniques • Otto Bock MOBIS® and component prescription fundamentals • Bench alignment • Static alignment using the L.A.S.A.R. Posture • Dynamic alignment of the prosthesis and adjustments

Transtibial Prosthetics

There are numerous factors to consider in the design and fitting process of a trans-tibial amputee. There are ever increasing choices to be made regarding interface materials, suspension methods, feet and functional components.

This 2 day course is aimed at consolidating the breadth of knowledge obtained from both formal education, and on the job training.

Participants will undertake a combination of theoretical lectures, manufacturing processes, and clinical fit-tings under the guidance of Otto Bock trained clinicians. This is an ideal way to try new techniques in an environment away from the pressures of real world clinical practice.

Seminar ObjectiveWith the assistance of the instructor, you will perform customised transtibial fittings from plaster casting to dynamic alignment, whilst also participating in theoretical presentations and discussions.

You will learn and improve your skills regarding• Reviewing anatomy and biomechanics of transtibial gait• Indications and application techniques of different prosthetic systems• Plaster casting and modification techniques• Manufacturing techniques • Otto Bock MOBIS® and component prescription fundamentals• Bench alignment• Static alignment using the L.A.S.A.R. Posture• Dynamic alignment of the prosthesis and adjustments

Custom Silicone Prostheses

With the advancement of technology in HTV silicone and application to Orthopaedics, the use of custom Silicone products for difficult fittings is unmatched. Not only does Ottobock Silicone provide the highest level of cosmesis available, the restoration of function is paramount.

Co-operative Care ServiceOur custom Silicone specialist will attend your facility free of charge for the full treatment process of two individual clients as a training opportunity for you and your fellow colleagues. During the training sessions you will learn the necessary steps to successfully order a customer silicone partial hand/finger or partial foot. These include:

• casting techniques for silicone forefoot prostheses• impression taking for silicone finger & partial hand prostheses• colour determination• photographing the residual limb• troubleshooting with Trial prosthesis• and basics about the Silicone ordering process

Ottobock Custom Silicone treatment processOnce your patient has attended the first consultation where the cast/impression, measurement and photographs are taken, your client will receive their functional trial prosthesis. This step is unique to the Ottobock custom silicone process. This trial prosthesis is worn for approximately 3-4 weeks and allows the practitioner to make necessary changes to the fit, comfort and alignment of the prosthesis whilst giving the client a feel for the definitive device in their everyday life. When both the practitioner and client are 100% happy, the definitive prosthesis is made in a choice of three levels of cosmesis with silicone or acrylic nails.
